Leaving Tanjung Rhu

I must say that I was pretty impressed. And it was not just because we were the only Malaysian there.

The hotel had been under renovation for the last four years and for the last couple there were hardly any work going on. According to the staffs, since the hotel was doing OK despite the reduced number of beds, it didn't make much sense to disrupt business and cause problem with the guests of the renovation was going on.

So, a substantial portion of the hotel remained closed but the essentials were running well. And the number of staffs were more than I thought and they seemed to have time for us whenever we went for drinks, swim or dinner.

Our suite was definitely a delight. We felt like just sitting in the room enjoying the stay - in fact we decided to have dinner in the room last night and the staff actually came to ready the table, and served us.

The boys also had their breakfast in the room yesterday. The staff came complete with a toaster! We also enjoyed a boat ride, feeding fish, looking at eagles and mangroves. All organised by the able staff members.

And did I mention the food? More than adequate and the sight and ambiance was really great. Even our boys were impressed - those little divas!

It was kind of sad to leave today but unfortunately the school will be opened tomorrow and I have a six hour drive ahead of me. We shall be doing a bit of shopping at Pekan Kuah later as the last couple of days we had just been sitting around the resort. Time to return to reality I supposed.

Checking out soon...

Kuala Kedah Jetty

We could only manage the noon ferry, and compounded by this being a Saturday, it seemed to be the most popular trip. The next one after would be at 1.30, and that may be too late for us if we want to enjoy today at Langkawi.

We set off from the hotel at around 10, after everybody had a hefty breakfast. It was only a 15 minutes drive to the jetty but getting the MOV parked - there were no formal roofed parking space here - was tricky. Finally, we saw somebody waving at the side of the road with a sign saying “Parking Berbumbung”. We literally parked next to his house. And yes, it was covered and it was right opposite the road from the ferry terminal.

Problem solved. But we missed the 10.45 ferry. Initially we thought that the ferry will depart every hour at the half hour. Apparently it had been changed - and of course with no prior details. So, for the past hour, we have been enjoying our ice creams in the terminal, the crowd was building up and the ferry had just moored.

We should be off in the next 20 minutes. Time to drag the bags! Langkawi, here we come!

Casual Day

The Malaysian Society of Haematology would be holding our yearly Scientific Conference later this week and I had been gearing down my clinic for that as I would be involved. This morning in fact, I have cancelled my clinic in Subang but had to make my way to Park City for a session. And today, I was just dressed casually in jeans and sneakers, and everybody was wondering why.

Well, best to wind down the clinic fast as I have some things to do this afternoon plus a talk to attend from tonight.

Happy Conferencing!

Them Easter Eggs

Not that many lying around this year. And the only eggs I saw on display for this season were at Pavilion. Even there, there weren't that many. It was just that I got used to see them around during my time in England, and with the eggs came the beginning of warmer weather and opening of the public parks, which then translated to being able to dust out my camera to take pictures of the spring blooms.

There were plenty of bunnies at Tokyo Street upstairs

There were no such seasons back home, but still it made me want to pick up my camera ...

Blooming Mid Valley

I was with Anita earlier this afternoon accompanying her to do a bit of shopping. I don't normally like going to Mid Valley on Friday as the place was usually crowded at the time. But Anita had something to do there. So, i accompanied her while spending most of the time at a cafe.

After leaving her, I went to the main lobby and guess what I found?

Apparently there was some celebration for the spring season going on. The foyer were filled with bloom although most of them wasn't really real flowers. But the colours were fantastic.

I spend some time having a look around before settling down at a cafe. But that didn't last long. Apparently there was an IT Fair going on at the Exhibition Centre. More on that later...
