It's Friday

The week seem to have breezed through really fast. And it had been one of those productive week where I really got plenty done.

And this had also been the longest stint I had without beeping on call for a long time.

From last month, I have reduced my General Medical commitment at work and contrasting more on Haematology. Alhamdulillah, I had been busier but more focused. The majority of my inpatient now were with Haematology diseases and I got plenty of satisfaction in getting them sorted out.

I am still in the rota and will be on call this Sunday. But now, my calls were pretty spaced out and should I do a couple of duties close together, I had plenty of breathing after that.

This wedding also marked my wedding anniversary and Anita planned a nice dinner tomorrow. Looking forward to that.

At the meantime, I planned to get more stuff done tonight, plenty of reading, plus an early night ...

Another Blue Hour

It was a post-call afternoon. Irfan had just returned from his week away in Gopeng for school trip. Anita insisted on getting him his favourite. That would mean a drive to Pavilion in Friday afternoon traffic ...

I decided to have my own dinner as soon as I arrived. Rather than rush back home - Irfan had already had something else to eat then - I decided to take my camera gear out and enjoy the blue hour ....

The sky was clear and Bukit Bintang was buzzing. A perfect time to mingle about.

I took a walk towards Lot 10 and crossed the famous intersection there, walking further towards Low Yat. The place was full with a band playing in the background. From afar, I could see Arab Street being filled with people having dinner and enjoying sisha. A lot of tourist in KL this time of the year. With nice afternoon weather, I might as well join them and enjoy. Rainy season was coming .... enjoy it while it lasts ....

Rainy Hazard

Peak hour traffic in the heavy rain was never fun. There might be water logged road, slow traffic and slick driving surface. There is another hazard in Lembah Kelang however especially on the highways.

Motorcyclists!

They smart danger in clearest of weather but during rain, they tended to stop as a group under shades of bridges. This morning, they occupied the two left lanes along Federal Highway under a few of the bridges as I was making my way to work.

It happened on both sides of the road ...This created extra jam as the lanes were practically closed. Imagine if you were driving fast having to apply your brakes on such atrocious conditions.

Federal Highway has their own motorcycle lanes but they were not well maintained and tended to be closed at areas where constructions were going on - which in KL meant everywhere! Ten year back, motorcycles were banned on rolled inner city highways. But the ban had been lifted since. They use the highway for free and weaving in-between the fast lanes will create problem.

A few months back there we're mbps ends where a car ploughed into this crowd of cyclists causing a few deaths. I guessed the lessons were never learned ... I am not campaigning that they were banned again but a solution must be found and the way I see it, they need a dedicated lane for themselves as well as proper shade stops during rain. Good luck to that ...

Cempedak Luar Pagar

My late father loves jack fruit. There is a small plot of land opposite his house on which he planted a few trees. One of them was a jack fruit and for the last few years it had been yielding some fruits.

Not bad actually. And fresh from the tree, my Mum would fry it. I went to visit Mum last Sunday and we had exactly that. Good stuff actually. Yum yum!

A Quick Hop

A bit of a change this weekend with an overnight trip down south to Singapore on Friday. Great that I would be back on Saturday evening and would have the Sunday to chill.

I was at the hospital early that morning to clear a few things before Anita dropped me at KL Sentral for early lunch. The journey to KLIA was tight as the train was full. Most of the passengers however went on to KLIA2. My flight was only half full.

Didn't pack muchThe train to KLIA was packedDelayed ...The schedule for the rest of today and tomorrow looked full. I would go straight to the conference venue from the airport, then to attend the faculty dinner before my pickup back to the hotel at 9.30 pm. I would only check myself in then.

It would be an early start tomorrow. Pickup would be at 7.30. My talk would be after the coffee break in the morning before being taken straight to airport for a 7pm flight.
