Cafe by the Exit

We were done with the flowers and the children had had a field day getting us to by them toys. Next came a bit of respite before the drive home. Great timing as there was a nice little cafe right by the exit.

Ice creams and drinks this time around.

But what caught my eyes were the cute decorations and the furnitures. The theme for the decorations were butterflies, while the furnitures were made from recycled oil drums, painted and turned into chairs and tables. Very neat.

And that came during the time when the national news were dominated by oil drums. One of the Government prosecutor was abducted and his remains was found in an oil drum encased in cement! Gruesome stuff!

After the ice cream was done, it was time to head back to reality. And reality was only a 45-minutes drive away ...

Another Counter

After the wait at Air Asia yesterday, it was time for me to wait at the TM Point today. We were finalising the sale of the house in Taman Cemerlang, and we had problem disconnecting the Internet line. It went way back to 2013, and we were still being charged monthly since.

Anita went too sort it out six month back and was given assurances that the matter had been sorted out. But we were still getting monthly billing. It appeared to be one of those instances where one department not communicating with another and the customers were paying the price.

So, another report was instigated and there would be a other investigation into the matter. As usual, we were not able to sort the issue out there and then. Hopefully I do not have to take another day off just to sort this out ...

Maid Issue

Our maid was supposed to be back in KL by the New Year's Day. We didn't get any phone call from her the few days prior, and things got rather suspicious when she failed to turn up after a couple of days.

We just found out that she missed her flight from Manila this morning and frantically we had to arrange for her to come back. Suffice to say that we had to foot up the bill for the flight. And being this late, we really got jacked at the Air Asia counter. The flight back alone cost more than her original return tickets.

We went straight to the counter at KL SentralBut we hardly had a choice. I had to cancel our original plan to have a few days out of town from Monday, since she could only get the flight back on Tuesday. I sorted out her tickets after my Mum's kenduri and now I was broke!

Hopefully there would be no more drama after this and things could return to normal after Wednesday!

Panic over! Our maid is back!

Mum's Kenduri

Inspired by our recent kenduri for Idlan's khatam, my Mum decided to have a quick kenduri as well for Maulud Rasul and my niece's and nephew's exam results. Unfortunately due to maid issue, we could only attend the kenduri and just hang around.

Since the boys missed their breakfast, they were rather grumpy and I decided in the end to leave half way to take them for lunch somewhere while the crowd died down. Only after that I could actually have a chit chat and just enjoyed the afternoon.

Since the last time my Mum had a kenduri was quite a while back, it was very well attended. The place was filled to the brim when I arrived. The weather was also very kind that afternoon. However, we could not hang around for too long since we had still to sort out our maid's flight ticket, and also the boys needed some major haircut!

Precision Wedding

I have been to plenty of wedding and when it comes to Malay weddings, they could either at home - which usually takes place during the afternoon - or at a hall, which often held at night. The ones at the halls, were either buffet or a sit down affair. And the problem I faced had always been about the waiting involved, and it got worse when we had kids on tow.

So, it was refreshing to attend a wedding where one were sat down in a hall, food were served at the table and it started and ended on time.

One such affair was last evening, when I attended the wedding of one of my senior colleague's son. It was held at Sime Darby Convention Centre and the whole event were done by 10 sharp! It was not to say that the event was boring, but everything just ran like clockwork. Even the VIP arrived on time and the speeches were succinct - especially from the erudite Oxford-educated best man - plus they had a house band performing which could actually sing!

Food was also great! And even the people I shared the table with were great company. I really couldn't complaint. Unfortunately Anita couldn't make due to some home and baby-sitting issues. Toasting for more wedding such as this one!
