ETS to SP

My aunt was in KL over the weekend to attend the kenduri at my Mum's place. She came here this time by train (ETS for Electric Train Service) and was impressed with how quick the journey was. So, on the return leg, my Mum decided to follow along.

So, after lunch at Restoran Rebung and a quick stop at my apartment - the first time my aunt had been there - I sent them off at KL Sentral. She took the 1611 train and at arounf 8.30 pm, I received a call from Mum that she had already arrived at Sungai Petani. That was only after 4 hours.

I was impressed. The train was understandably packed and she had to book the ticket a day before the planned journey as they tended to be sold out. I could see more and more train be added to this service in the future. It certainly was time-saving and hopefully if they could stay punctual would revolutionise the journey up and down the Peninsular.

But it would have been greater if similar services could be extended to both the East Coast and Singapore. How great would that be? ....

Shattered

Anita dropped her iPhone 6 at school earlier and the aftermath was not that pretty. The whole of the front glass cracked, with a slight dent on the side. When I examined it earlier, there was a small gap in between the front glass and the body panel. But the phone, including the touch screen was still working fine.

It will to do for the time being. Not sure if she wanted to repair for the time being, with a front glass replacement or splash on a new phone. Or would she just rather wait for the iPhone 7 when it comes out before getting a new one. It all depended on how stable the dropped phone was ....

At the New Rebung

Restoran Rebung had moved. They were no longer located at Lorong Maarof. Since the New Year Day, they are now located on the roof of a car park block right opposite the main entrance of the Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman, right in the middle of Tasik Perdana.

At least that solved their parking problem!

The unmistaken image of Chef IsmailThe logo and theme remained the same, but notice the particulars has changedCertainly parking is not going to be an issue from now on ...My Mum was leaving for Sungai Petani with my Aunt this afternoon and I was asked to sort out their transport to KL Sentral. So, we decided to have lunch as well, and knowing how fond my Mum and Aunt for Chef Ismail, we called the restaurant number only to be told that they have moved.

Determined, we went on to find where the new venue was. It turned out to be rather straight forward. We drove towards the Police Headquarters and looking around, we stumbled on a huge banner of the restaurant. True enough, it was on the fifth floor of a new car park complex - so new that they have yet to start charging the entrance fee yet.

They have a huge kitchen, both indoors and outdoors seatings - indoors was better since it can get really balmy in the bright sun at a roof of a carpark - complete with a stage where the chef was known to belt a tune or three!

We sat down for a buffet lunch, and they had selections - the mains - in the indoors as well as tit bits at the stalls outdoors. I was sure that there would be green shrubs and herbs lining the whole restaurant as time goes by. There were also private rooms which I was sure would be popular in the future.

And Chef Ismail himself was on hand to welcome the guests when they walk in or left, turning on his charms. Despite being in operation for less than a week, the place was full when we there this afternoon. Definitely will be coming again in the future. The cost? Anita paid today, so I wouldn't know ....

Toasty Breakfast

Finally I had a morning date Anita now that our maid is back. We felt like having something French hence the quick drive to Bangsar for the much-delayed return trip to Yeast.

And it was a heavenly one.

We had the usual but with the weather outside being so sunny, we could've just hang around it was time for lunch, just having a chat and having more coffee and bread.

But alas, we had to get on with the day. After our Egg Florentine was gobbled, it was time to bit au revoir. I had to drive across town to pick up my Mum after this. She's heading to Sungai Petani on a train with my Aunt. I will be sending her off at KL Sentral.

So, off to Bukit Antarabangsa and lunch!

Laman Standard Chartered

That would probably the best way to describe where the place it. I discovered it during the recent 500px photowalk, located right next to Suria KLCC near the Mandarin Oriental entrance.

What was there? A piece of greenery with plenty of trees right in the middle of town, shielded from the stress of the streets nearby. Only a 5 minutes stroll to Suria, but it appeared miles away. More secluded than the often crowded KLCC Park, and the trees provided a nice shade from the sun while allowing the cool breeze to pass by. There were a few benches there as well as some set of stairs for you to take a breather while having some latte maybe.

A quick internet search did not shed any light into the place. There was a small Facebook page but with not much detail. I read that there may have been some art event taken place there, but again, not much was learned. Maybe somebody wanted to keep it hidden and tranquil. But I was glad that I found it ...
