The New Posterous
I first posted in Posterous in 2009. Being an early adopter actually, and I must say that after the initially being impressed with what it had to offer, it was surpassed by other app such as Instagram and even Path.
Now, it had made a comeback.
Posterous act as a conduit. You register all your social media presence on it - your Facebook, Flickr, blog, twitter, Youtube, Picasa etc - and just sent your blog, photos, video updates to just one program and all your status would be updated in one shot.
It sounded promising but the interface was clunky and there was the problem of fragmentation as the implementation into each of the individual web outlet may not be perfect. I persevered and found a way around it, and lately I have been using it to update from - not to - my blog.
What impressed me the most was a couple of things. The API is much more stable. You can now count on Posterous to update all your status. It had been hit and miss before. And since it had a reliable app on iOS and Android, updating my blog and status on the go had been a doodle.
The second point was the update on the web interface. You can now be proud of it to be your main front. My theme basically displayed a set of 12 photographs of my last 12 updates and the visitor just click on it to read the blog. Excellent!
It still need a few more tweaks. You can now use your own custom domain to add exclusivity. I would be using it for my trip to Singapore soon and see how things work out! Watch this space.
