Kites. Everywhere.

On my way back from ParkCity to Subang last Wednesday, I stopped by Bangsar Shopping Centre to do a bit groceries and stumbled into these colourful kites adorning the main foyer. Apparently for the week - which I suspect coincided with the international school break - the centre was organising a kite exhibit. All the way from building, painting and flying them in the end. There were hundreds of them already on display for a competition ending this weekend.

Quite interested in seeing what would unfold this weekend. Idlan especially is fond of kites.

Jungle Gym, BSC

On the fourth floor of Bangsar Shopping Center, tucked away from the main shopping area is a play area for the kids - right next to the funky Surau I was talking about in my earlier entry. The play gym there was relatively small, but full of activities.

Adults were allowed in to accompany their children, and on the whole, the place was very safe. My boys enjoyed it, more than the gyms in Plaza Damas or Great Eastern Mall.

In face, just outside the gym, there was rollerblade rink, and a few restaurants for children. There we plenty of space for the parents to sit down as well. They also offer services to look after the kids should we wish to drop them there and go shopping. We had our maid along, so, we left them there. Make sure you carry socks with you, as otherwise you have to buy one when you enter. And they were not cheap .....

One Funky Surau

Most of the shopping center have got a prayer room tucked in somewhere. Today, taking the boys out to the gym, we went to Bangsar Shopping Center. After riding off my migraine attack, I went to join the boys. And around the corner on the fourth floor, from the gym was a new prayer room at the center.

I was more familiar with the one on the third floor. But the new room was much better. It was in fact brand new. Slightly smaller than previous one, but it has a sitting area with sofa just outside the prayer hall. The wudhu area was also clean and neat. Fully air conditioned and the area for the shoes were well laid out in the outside.

Argh! Migraine!

I do suffer from migraine. I get the odd attack once or twice every six months. Not that bad, in a sense that I never needed regular medications. I tended to get the aura of zigzag lines running through my eyes before the headache sets in.

Unfortunately, I suffered an attack just now, as soon as we arrived at Bangsar Shopping Center. I could see on the left lower field, and spent about 20 minutes on the chair above, eyes shut.

What I saw when I opened my eyesThe aura came and faded, and before long, pain on my right temple set in. Usually, I took some paracetamol during the aura, making the headache more bearable. But not during Ramadhan. Luckily, the headache wasn't that bad, although my head felt heavy ever since.

I think the trigger this time could be dehydration. I shall remember to drink a bit more tonight after iftar.

Holy Macaroons

As I mentioned, I have never understood what the fuss was about as far macaroons were concerned. Last Monday, while at Bangsar Shopping Center with the boys and Puan Anita, we came across a booth apparently selling the world's best macaroon. I got curious and bought a couple of them - I was such a sucker.

I was allegedly air flown from Belgium, and was prepared by a gourmet chocolatier Pierre Ledent. After tasting some of his sample chocolates, I couldn't resist it anymore.

I must say that it was revelation. The macaroon I tried was raspberry cream, and I could literally tasted the explosion of the fruit in my mouth. The biscuit just melted in the mouth, with a very pleasing after taste. I really shouldn't say much more as I had hardly tasted any other macaroons before to make any comparison, but all I could attest to was it tasted exotic. I would definitely be buying more if only it was not too expensive.

Was it the best in the World? I really must try more macaroons before I could confirm that ...... But if you are curious, go ahead and experience it yourself. They have a booth at the main foyer at Bangsar Shopping Center where Gourmet used to be - it was now called Jasons Food Hall.
