Happy Birthday Moez

Dina and Azmel Azmil had been married for many years and only last year, they had been blessed by a son. And it was worth the wait.

Moez is a lovely boy. And he turned one yesterday. We were at his party at a playgym at Great Eastern Mall. He was too young to join still, but he appeared excited.

Irfan didn't want to go, but Idlan did. The rest of the children who came were too young for him, so he stayed with us, charming the other mothers...

One thing I had to point out was the food. They were excellent. The mains may be generic, but the kueh were to die for! Those were mainly brought by Azmel's Azmil's Mum.

Are they doing the chicken dance?Idlan taking a breather and hung around with the clownBefore trying the balloon himself And this popiah was something elseDefinitely one of the better parties I attended for ages. ‎

The Hunt for the Venue

We promised Irfan that we would do a party for his birthday. The last time we had a party for him was a while back, at the Bird Park. He was due for one. But we had no idea where to do it.

In the last couple of weeks, we had been checking on a few venues. This afternoon, in between my clinics, I went to Kiara Equatrian Club to make a visit.

The venue was available for the proposed date. The question was, would Irfan like the idea. So, on Friday afternoon, we would take him there for a game of bowling and ask him if he would like his party there.

If he wasn't keen, we might have to do more searching. Kids nowadays ...

Horse-riding Party

Idlan had to miss his swimming lesson today - we would be taking him there tomorrow. Instead, we were in Denai Alam, attending the boys' friend's birthday. It was a party with a difference.

It was held at a horse-riding club - Denai Alam Riding Centre (DARC). We were not exactly familiar with the place, but the GPS helped us out. Although it did sent us through too many traffic lights. We were sure we would have got lost without the maps. But it was worth the search.

DARC is a family-orientated riding club, where the owner took up unwanted horses and raising them, often nursing them along the way. Most of them had been turned into rides, and the members could take ownership by way of sponsorship of individual horses or even come in as volunteers. But I would blog more about DARC later.

We started off all excited about the horses. My boys had never been up close with horses before, and the only time they had a ride was at Fraser's Hill a few years back. After being showed around, Idlan especially wanted to have a ride but he had to wait until the party started. That was after they had a pat and fed the horses some carrots.

I was starving by then, and even though it wasn't really a sunny day, it was still very warm and humid. The boys had some ice-cream to cool down while waiting for the party. The food was prepared by DARC, and the roast lamb was especially good.

The birthday boy was brought in on a pony for the cake-cutting. Then came the horse-ride for all the kids - when Idlan and Irfan got their first taste of riding on the back of a horse. They wanted more. And they persuaded me enough to become a member of the Centre.

I then had to leave DARC to attend to an admission at the hospital, with the rest continuing with the party. They were still dancing by the time I comeback, drenched in sweat, needing to take a shower. I was with the Dads watching football instead - Man City getting beat by Everton.

We finally called it the night at around 10. Our host would be spending the night at DARC - they have rooms for rent for those who wanted to ride early the next morning. All in all, it was an interesting party, and with us now being a member of DARC, we would definitely be coming here again and hopefully would be starting riding lessons soon.

AU2 Going Down?

It was the school holidays and almost every weekend, the boys were invited to party. Last weekend, it was at the KPC KFC outlet at EON AU2. I must confess that we rarely came over there. It was a great place for grocery shopping I was sure, but compared to a year ago, clearly the place was going down.

Chicky the chicken made his appearance and scared the living out of the birthday girl!Apparently the boardings had been up for a few months alreadyAnd there were a few of them aroundMany of the food outlets were being closed, with only the main ones opened. Even on a Sunday afternoon - at the time of the party - the parking lot was empty and there were hardly any body mingling around. Just a few families at Jusco for food and shopping for the week I guessed. Not much in terms of leisure outing. I guessed the competition with Wangsa Walk Mall just 10 minutes away proved too much.

Happy Birthday Old Boy

It was a hectic afternoon yesterday with stops in the ward, followed by a visit to my friend's birthday barbecue and picking up my sister at the airport on her return from Disneyland Hong Kong.

The birthday boy was Syahril, my roommate from Sheffield. Currently, he is a Neurosurgeon in UKM Medical Center. He was away in England on his last birthday and today, he invited us over for his barbecue. But since I was heading to airports straight after, I had to come alone.

No. He did not have wagyu beef for the barbecue. But the dessert was expertly prepared by his wife. A couple of items - cream caramel and Oreo cheesecake. Heaven!
