After the Party

Irfan actually passed some of his present to his brother, and since the late afternoon, he had been in his room doing some paintings. He never had talent for arts …. so I was not sure if I should be worried ….

They were both looking tired after the party. Irfan especially had been rubbing his eyes all evening.

All the stuffs to bring upstairsIrfan going through the presentsIdlan getting his stuffs organised for his masterpiece

Time for an early bed I think …. and of course I would be waiting for the football game later …. if I could stay awake!

Irfan is Eight

The party was finally over and done with. And it was a memorable day for Irfan especially. Many of his friends came and they had a good day playing bowling, and eating cakes of course.

This time, we had the party at Kiara Equestrian Club. Theme was Minecraft, and the venue was the bowling alley. No need to bring your own shoes, but socks were a must!

In the end, we occupied ten lanes, seven of them for children. Of course, I got to show my skills at the end …

For the event, we catered the food from the club, while we employed a party planner for the party organiser and the party packs. We asked that the clown to not wear his normal costume as Irfan had a thing against clowns since he was young. So, he came doing his usual clowning stuff, balloon tricks and organising the games. Minus the make-up.

The food was excellent. One of Irfan’s classmate’s Mum offered to do Irfan’s cake, and it was gorgeous.

The only disappointment was the party planner, who rushed for time and a rather sub-par end product. I would not rather spoil things here, but suffice to say that we wouldn’t be doing business with them again.

Time to get into the proper shoes... and get the proper ballsTime for cakesAnd group photoEven the lion came to playTime for the daddies to show off their talents ...For those considering having birthday party here, I must say that it was highly recommended. The officer in-charge was very accommodating and doing business with him was a pleasure - I was referring to you Mr Syahril! Everything was delivered and more.

The children had a great time. Irfan had a smashing day. The parents had a fine time - some of them even played along. Food was great and the whole venue was comfortable. Now, off to nurse my sore arm …

Barbey!!

Great barbecue. Juicy lamb ribs. Need I elaborate? But the revelation of the day was this Korean salad which one of my friend, Amin prepared. It was simple but hardly plain simple. Strip of beef with some marinated sauce taken on a leaf of lettuce. Not exactly my idea of a snack, but it worked.

The ready of the barbecue was excellent as usual. Syahril was in top form. The marinated lamb ribs was heavenly.

Hey! The cakes almost gone!

We had a good long chat afterwards. Catching up really. A nice break from my busy work schedule lately. It ended with a spot of football with the kids, but my boys were hardly interested. Wuss!

Now, I need to find a way to burn all those calories...

Party Time

It came a day early, but I didn't think Puan Anita was complaining. Farha, and gang had sprung a surprise for her, a birthday cake on their Aidilfitri open house. She was not expecting that, especially my less than enthusiastic response to her request to pick her up from home. I asked her to get the driver out instead.

I had to endure a 45 minute ham from my clinic to get to Farha's even though it was on the other side of Subang Jaya. Unbelievable. And my friends manage to keep their mouth shut about the cake until I turned up!

She was surprised. The cake was gorgeous, but the highlight for me was the tiramisu prepared by Azida. Gleefully I took some home for afters!

We hung around for a bit, mainly embarrassing ourselves with tales of the old times in the UK. Surprised at the collection of photos that Farha had kept, it was rather strange to look at how different but the same we were. Great stuff!

Thanks again Farha, Azi, Yatt, Itul, Syahril and Debby plus the others for making it an afternoon for Puan Anita.

Party Time

Been a long and tiring day today. Finally all the preparation came to fruition. Idlan's birthday party was a blast. The cake from Mama Min was a hit, the food was great and the venue ..... say no more.

Of course there was the initial concern of the weather. It has been raining all night and all morning. The boys also woke up late with the cool weather. The cake which we picked up last night also suffered a minor ..... injury. I mean the centerpiece went wonky and was in need of some last minute touch up. Luckily, Mama Min was obliging and came over to the party venue.

The turn-up was also great. I only invited close family. All who were invited came, and Idlan was left grinning from ear to ear carrying home his sack of presents. He opened the first one - a Lego car from his friend at school.

Right, I am being honest here. I need to go through some 400 snaps from the day - courtesy of my brother-in-law, Salleh. That will take some editing and will take the whole evening. I will be traveling to Penang tomorrow morning to attend my cousin's wedding. And there was also this small matter of the Champion's League final in the early hours of tomorrow morning. I'll probably give that one a miss I think.

I have already planned to take Monday off. Hopefully I can have some rest then. Maybe I can start writing about the birthday party then as well. Happy weekend.
