Sunday, Sorted Early

Please click the photo above to play the daily videoEarly start on a Sunday, which always feels like a small act of rebellion against the day's natural inclination to loaf. Whatever needed sorting got sorted, and by eleven the morning's business was done — that satisfying sensation of having the rest of the day ahead of you, unclaimed.

What claimed a chunk of it was a test drive — the Denza GT9, which turned out to be properly impressive, the kind of car that makes you reconsider your relationship with the accelerator pedal. Out onto the SPE to let it stretch its legs, then back via town, which gave a decent sense of it in both registers — open road and stop-start alike. The seats were the sort of comfortable that makes you notice comfortable seats, and power was not in short supply, put mildly. Whether any of that translates into an actual decision remains to be seen, but it made for an entertaining hour regardless.

From there, dim sum at Star Hill, which is about as sensible a way to follow up a test drive as exists — sit down, slow down, let someone else do the work for a while. Plates came and went in that unhurried dim sum rhythm, and on the way out we picked up some mooncake, slightly ahead of season perhaps, but never really the wrong time for one.

The afternoon settled into something quieter after that, rain arriving to underline the point — that particular grey hush that makes staying in feel less like a default and more like a decision. No complaints. Some Sundays want filling, this one wanted emptying out, and it obliged nicely.

By evening, the usual low murmur of a new week approaching had started up — nothing urgent yet, just the background awareness that tomorrow has its own agenda, regardless of how comfortably today's ended. A good one to close the weekend on, all told: fast car, good food, rain on the window, and nothing left undone.
