Friday Evening Outing

After a couple of weekends lapse, and of course the two of us being ill in the middle of the week, Friday evening was a welcome relief. We went out, as per tradition. Irfan asked earlier in the evening for dinner at Marche. So, we obliged.

No new movies, so it was dinner and a quick walk around the mall. Plenty of Halloween costumes and decorations around the mall, so was Deepavali which would be next weekend. The place was pretty colourful and happening.

Marche was pretty packed that evening and I must say, the quality of the food had definitely been deteriorating in the last year or so. Shame really. We loves the place.

But the walk in the open air in evening breeze was priceless.

Long Saturday

There were not many activities during Ramadan on the lecture and conferences front. And right after Raya, everything seemed to be getting into heat. We have lectures and meetings held every weekend and yesterday, I went to one at Le Meridien.

Unfortunately I was too tired to get involved since it was post-call. I was too tired and at times nodded off. My afternoon rounds finished just after two but I decided to have a nice quite lunch before heading for the talk.

The end is nigh. This was the last talk of the day. But I had a meeting after that.Taking my boys off to dinnerWhat was this squash court doing in the middle of the mall? After the talk came the council meeting and dinner. I stayed until after the meeting but decided to leave before dinner. I took the boys out instead to The Curve, have dinner with them as well as do some shopping with Anita.

Misadventure at Marche

After Berbuka last night my boys asked for pizza. Anita had to do some shopping, so the decision was simple. We headed to The Curve, and for food it was Marche.

We were there a few weeks ago at the beginning of Ramadhan, and it was business as usual there. But last night it was different. All buffet and no ala carte. And the selection was rather limited. With the RM 68 to be paid for adults, it wasn't cheap. It cost RM for each of my boys, plus tax on top. And on the whole, it wasn't worth it. I had a small steak and salads, plus dessert. The drinks had to be paid separately though.

That's one big mug of tea .....Followed by a nice strollI wouldn't recommend going for the buffet if you were only there for the food. You wouldn't get your money's worth.

The Curve in Ramadan

After the jam I endured coming back from Subang, I had to fulfil my promise to the boys to take them out. Anita wanted to go to The Curve, and the children wanted to go to Marche there. So, the decision was easy. Off we went.

For the past few years, this was the main place we went to shop for Raya clothes. A few of the shops there we were very familiar with. And of course, we had to go there for the Raya cards as well. We had tongue that a miss this time around as the boys were hungry. So the shopping had to wait.

The decor there this year was based on the 60s theme around old KL. Specifically Chow Kit and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman. The had shops basically there. A mini bazaar, selling some really expensive stuff that I didn't even bother browsing.

The clothes there mainly came from local boutique and they didn't come cheap. There were also accessories, samping, songkok and all the rest. But the main items seemed to be baju kurung. Plenty of them, for both children and adults. Don't bother asking about the prices. I could cry.

We skipped that and bought some clothes at Metrojaya instead. Got what we went there for.

Unfortunately, The Curve were shut down at ten even during Ramadan. Which was a shame since they could do with opening it until midnight during weekends as I was sure there would be plenty of people who would venture out after Tarawikh at least for food.

That would be an idea.

Here are the entries from the Raya decor from 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Bowling Time

Upon returning from Atlanta on Thursday, I hardly had a proper rest. Friday was an on call day, spending the Saturday morning sorting out the admission. This was followed by taking the boys for their swimming lesson in the afternoon and dinner at KLCC following that. I then stayed up for the United-Sunderland game straight after that.

Sunday morning, back to ward rounds in the morning. And by the time I returned, I attended the meet the teacher session at Idlan's Quran school. Only after lunch on Sunday that I had some free time for the boys, and they couldn't wait to out then. So, they asked for a couple of activities; bowling and movies.

We went to eCurve since the place had both - plus Marche for the afternoon tea. Sounded like a great plan.

We first booked the movie - more about that on a later entry. Then it was bowling time. It would be Irfan's first. Idlan did it before a couple times when hen was younger and knew what to expect.

Off they went, all excited. Irfan felt awkward at the beginning but soon picked then game up. He did a long run-up followed by a loud high release, causing a thud when his ball hit the floor of the lane. Luckily there were not that many people about, and we practically had the lanes all to ourselves.

We soon tire out after a couple of games. Irfan actually did better on the first game, much to the annoyance of his brother. Competitive sods!
