Late as Usual

Saturday afternoons were always a bad time for me. My clinic tended to finish late and there were always patients which needed seeing after lunch, before I leave the hospital for the day. By the time I was done, it was usually after 3 pm. I tended to either have lunch at the hospital or take Anita out for a late lunch.

Saturday afternoon were also popular times for weddings. It usually ran until 4 pm, and it was almost customary that we showed up the last half an hour. With that, sometimes we had no food left. That created a dilemma for me. I usually had to content with what I had for breakfast until we leave the kenduri if that was the case.

The happy coupleAs a rule, I seldom confirm that I would be coming when the wedding was on Saturday afternoon. It was just not worth the hassle. I would only go if the hosts were aware that I would be arriving late.

Last Saturday was one of those occasion. It was a wedding of one of my Mum's friend's daughter and Anita was keen to go. I had no choice. I finally made it home at around 2.30 and rushed over to the wedding venue across town. It was the new Menara Felda this time. Luckily the traffic was light and the parking system was straight forward. I was already staring at the food by 3.30pm. Made it just in time.

Family Outing

It was a full day today. Anita wasn’t very pleased when she learned that I had to make a quick trip to the ward despite being on leave. She decided however to. Follow me for breakfast. This was followed by a quick trip to Sunway Pyramid, where she managed to get some shopping done.

We then went back to fetch the boys for lunch, and we went to Burger and Sushi before learning that Nana was having a cough and needed nebulisers. Enough excuse to head over to Kajang.

We started with a sushi lunchWhile I murdered some steakThe boys helping with some groceriesThat went on until dinner when my parents joined us as well. We had some really nice Thai food in Kajang town. Nana was better and would be travelling back to Kedah tomorrow back to her hostel. It was close to midnight when we finally settled back home. At least I could look forward to the prospect of not having to do the Weekly Sunday Morning Ward Round (tm)!

Late Queue

Second call of the week today and looking forward for the weekend. Idlan was heading for his final stretch for the upcoming UPSR. In terms of revision, he seemed calmer than his mother. Anita had been pulling her hair out all week.

The call today had been staggered and I was hoping to have some sleep before starting early tomorrow. I had already cancelled my clinic and was hoping to have time to attend a talk in town tomorrow. I had a meeting lined up before hopefully being able to take Idlan for a hair cut.

Saturday Afternoon

After a lighter than usual Saturday Morning clinic, I had a free afternoon. Decided to have a day out at KLCC with Anita with the boys staying in and Idlan occupied with the coming UPSR - although I had hardly seen him do any kind of work!

The weather was rather overcast but the rain earlier in the day helped with the air quality. It was starting to haze again …

We had some tea - unfortunately they ran out of tomato juice, so no Virgin Mary for Anita - at KLCC before going to do a bit of shopping. I ended up going back to Bangsar later having a haircut. A nice relaxing afternoon while gearing up for the return of football a bit later in the day. Unfortunately I had yet to get my Manchester United new shirt. They kept being sold out!

It was always good to have a Saturday afternoon off. It would be conferences and meeting in scheduled in the coming few weeks …

Mari Ber-Sama-Sama

I learned recently that this year's edition of Urbanscapes would be held in town and one of the main venue would be Medan Pasar. Interesting as it would be central, just behind Central Market and within walking distance from Petaling Street. Public transport would also be straight forward. And from there on, there would be plenty to do - CM, Petaling Street, Dataran Merdeka, Masjid Jamek and Masjid India would be within 10 minutes.

But the drawback was the area had been transformed lately into Mini Kathmandu, with plenty of our foreign guests congregating at the area during weekends meeting their friends when they were off work. Not really a pleasant place to venture at.

As a trial run, I went there last weekend after learning that a bazaar - called Sama-Sama Food Fair - was held there. The sun was blazing and yea, there was a mixture of local and the foreign visitors as well as foreign workers. The bazaar featured local alternative musics as well as local and ASEAN food fair.

I was there quite rather late as I had a long clinic on the Saturday morning. Most of the food was gone, although the music was still playing and it would go on until around 8. The crowd would then go over to KLCC and other venues to celebrate Earth Hour that night. Great timing.

Nice tables actually. Setting the mood, but rather hot and exposed ...Nice hat!Time to enjoy the ABC!The event was organised by Lab DNA and from the information I received they had been doing great work with plenty of viral event, something the Millennials would be in tune with. I was there in time to catch the Venopian Solitude who had been making headlines in the local underground scene. Great music and great vibe.

I didn't have much time to spare, and I was off after 30 minutes in time to have some ABC!
