New Toll Arrangement

The queue at the toll booth on my way to work yesterday was longer than usual. The fact that I had a couple of clinic s that day - the morning at Park City and the afternoon back in Subang - meant that I was in a slight rush in the morning.

It turned out that the NPE - New Pantai Expressway - had gotten rid of cash paying booth. All the road user had to use electronic payment - Touch and Go - to pass through. Those who hasn't, would have to purchase them at some of the lanes. Hence the long queue.

I didn't have any problem since I had always been using the SmarTag. But I was caught in the wait.

The situation got a bit better this morning, probably because everybody had wise update to the fact. The added advantage for such system was the top-up booth were opened 24 hours. Made the job of topping-up the card that much easier.

Back to Havoc

So, school started yesterday for the boys and they have collected mountains of homework already in the last couple of days. Back to the usual routine and Idlan had been sulking all evening.

So, we went through his syllabus and found out that in maths especially, there was nothing much new compared to last year, only that the concept were explored in more details.

Idlan got bored after a while and gave up when it came to Bahasa Melayu. He was never into languages I was afraid, but the thing was for UPSR, 4 of the 6 assessment would be in languages. He better get himself sorted soon.

So, we did the homework together after he came back from tuition earlier and soon after he was begging to go to bed. Poor boy!

The KL Tower Mini Zoo

It was actually quite a a pleasant experience. Well, it better be for RM19 (RM16 for children and senior citizens) per pop! It was that expensive, but we can't say anything much as the kids were excited to go in.

The main attractions were the birds, the monkeys and the rabbits. They were really tame and we were allowed to handle them, without much of a fuss. The boys were especially attracted to the iguanas, and it was the first time that they had a first hand look.

It was a shame that it started to rain at the time we were about to play with the rabbits. A few things didn't make sense though. They had ponies and emu at the mini zoo. I wonder if they were let lose some of the time. There weren't enough space to keep those animals in such a small zoo! To deep a philosophical question for me to ponder at the moment ....

Would we come again? Certainly not at the price! We would be better off at Zoo Negara, but that would be another story ...

The Blue Coral Aquarium

*This entry follows the set from our outing in September 2015 to celebrate my Mum's birthday at KL Tower*

Conveniently placed right at the entrance of the KL Tower, the aquarium offered something different.

They had more than a dozen tanks in the place, with species ranging from the children favourite the clownfish - Nemo - to a small shark. Quite colourful and I must admit that my children enjoyed it.

Quite a nice detour after having lunch at the revolving restaurant ...

Entrance fees was rather steep at RM12, but it was not too bad. The staffs were mainly foreigners though making communication somewhat "challenged" at times. Since space was rather limited, the aquarium could get a bit crowded as you would have to double back on one of the ends before you get to the exit.

It was no Aquaria but it was not half bad ....

500px Photowalk Architecture

I was not feeling much inspired that morning and coupled with the poor weather, I did not hang around for too long.

But there was enough time for me to do a bit of urban architecture shots.

Due to the poor visibility, I used my Ricoh GR in monochrome mode which allowed me to capture the grim mood. KL appeared to be like Gotham at that rate. Nice to appreciate the city and certainly the cityscape would continue to change as the city grows, finding its identity.
