Catching Up

The last few days had bee hectic both on the professional and personal front. I finally got things organised and tomorrow, we would be heading for a short break at Kuala Kangsar, to visit Anita's kampung. It had been a while since I was there.

We used to have a house there ready for us to stay but as of last year, it was rented out. One of the teacher at a local school needed a place to stay and we decided to let them stay there. Tomorrow, we would be staying at a hotel in town, a place that Anita and her parents used to frequent.

The stay would be for a couple of nights, with me taking Monday off. We should be back on Tuesday. It would be camera time ...

Caught in the Rain

On call today and the admissions had been coming thick and fast. Sorted most of them out and I decided to have an early dinner. Ended up stuck in heavy rain at the Mamak Shop.

It had been pouring cats and dogs for the last half an hour and it didn't show any sign of stopping. Luckily there were not many calls to take, and I decided to enjoy the wait.

Time for another teh tarik ...

Sunday Afternoon Park Trip

We got our wish for an afternoon in the park today. Right after arriving home from my photowalk, we packed up and left for Taman Tasik Perdana. Getting there early was the ticket. It was just after 4 in the afternoon when we arrived at the car park.

It wasn't too hot when we roamed around. Equipped with the badminton racquets and basketball, we just ran around. We were soaked half an hour later, had a quick snack on the grass and continued on.

By half past five, we were already making our way back to the car as the cloud gathered, threatening to rain. Luckily it didn't and we continued on, this time at the playground.

After we were done, it was straight for dinner at KLCC.

Taman Tasik Perdana had some of the area upgraded and the place was a treasure in the middle of hustle and bustle of KL. As usual, many newlyweds were there, having their ceremonial wedding photographs taken.

The flowers were very well-maintained on the most part. The herb garden was reopened, and was well worth a visit. The whole place was clean and the grass were cut and looked after well. The lake was unfortunately still in a state. Plenty needed to be done there. Ironic wasn't it that the place was called there Lake Garden for the lake, and it was a site sight.

Parking could also be organised better. It wasn't made easy by the fact that there was only a single entry point if you drive in, and mazy cars were parked illegally. A pain if you were to arrive during peak hours. A separate entrance and exit would make a world of difference.

Some extra benches would also be great. Better still, a designated picnic area. They had a food court which was about to open. Great vision by the City Council.

One of the island there was undergoing some renewal work, but the part which were opened certainly looked great. Well manicured grass and all. visitbe frank, the Lake Garden area was a hidden gem. The butterfly and bird park were just around the corner if you plan for a whole day's outing. There was also the orchid garden not too far away. Well worth visit.

A Long Flickr Morning Walk

It had been a long Sunday. Globally, today was famously inducted as Star Wars Day. May the Fourth be with you as the saying went.

But in the Photographer enthusiast community, this weeks marked the tenth anniversary of Flickr. It was celebrated worldwide with what photographers loved to do, a group photowalk.

KLickr joined in the festivities by conducting its own photowalk. We decided to explore Brickfields this time around.

Hot and sunny although it didn't looked like it when I was driving to start my ward round first thing this morning. I was done by half eight and drove to KLCC to park my car, later taking the LRT to Sentral to join the crowd. The starting point was the brand new shopping mall next to the terminal called Nu Sentral. Swanky!

I reached the meeting point just after 10, settling in for a quick breakfast. Soon the group swelled and it was time to start the walk. The customary group photo was around 60. Not a bad crowd at all.

Hot weather indeed and the whole group congregated for lunch just after noon. But not before I snapped around 250 frames.

I wished that it was more of a guided walk as there were plenty of scene to be taken in then. Plenty to discover as Brickfields was full of history and at the rate the development around there were going, the place would soon change.

As for now, it was certainly an enjoyable walk. And a great company to boot. Will blog more after I got the photographs in post-development.

Saturday Outing

Idlan wanted to try some sports at school. He had started playing badminton, and a few of his friends wanted to play football and basketball later in the week. He was clearly into it and wanted me to get me a football.

So, off we went for a bit of shopping. He ended up getting himself the balls and a brand new sneakers. And the afternoon was topped off with a spot of hot chocolate at his favourite cafe. Unfortunately no practice for today as it was raining heavily by early evening.
