Another Blue Hour

It was a post-call afternoon. Irfan had just returned from his week away in Gopeng for school trip. Anita insisted on getting him his favourite. That would mean a drive to Pavilion in Friday afternoon traffic ...

The famous fountain in front of Pavilion, captured at f8.0

I decided to have my own dinner as soon as I arrived. Rather than rush back home - Irfan had already had something else to eat then - I decided to take my camera gear out and enjoy the blue hour ....

The sky was clear and Bukit Bintang was buzzing. A perfect time to mingle about.

I took a walk towards Lot 10 and crossed the famous intersection there, walking further towards Low Yat. The place was full with a band playing in the background. From afar, I could see Arab Street being filled with people having dinner and enjoying sisha. A lot of tourist in KL this time of the year. With nice afternoon weather, I might as well join them and enjoy. Rainy season was coming .... enjoy it while it lasts ....

Ending Raya Break Part I

I took a whole week off for the recent Hari Raya and getting back to work was a pain especially with the backlog of patients waiting for me at the clinic. Luckily, I had a couple of days to get my feet back on the ground before starting my calls.

Deciding where to head to ...Looking up ...Making my way across to Avenue KOne of the newer shops in town - RobinsonsA quick stop at the Leica StoreYes, it is big!For the last day of the break, I decided to take my camera out for a spin. Just me and the camera with my Touch and Go card to take me across town using the MRT/LRT.

Alighting at Masjid JamekMasjid IndiaPlease pay hereHello Kitty!Looking good ...Some of the roads undergoing upgradesLuckily the weather turned out to be superb, and it turned out to be an enjoyable day. When I was finally done, I clocked around 300 snaps.

I parked my car to start the journey at Suria KLCC. From there, I walked across to Avenue K, having a few snaps at the Twin Tower as I was passing along. I was tempted to stop at Robinson’s - the new shopping mall at Four Seasons just across Suria but decided against it.

Red shop ...Pertama Complex - one of the oldest mall in KLLooking out from Medan MARAThe SOGO entrance was rather flowery ...Back to Masjid IndiaTime to settle down for lunchI stopped at the Leica Store while at Avenue K before taking the LRT to Masjid Jamek. I walked along Masjid India, then towards Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, before doubling back to Lebuh Ampang for lunch at one fo the banana leaf restaurant there.

Vespa at Dataran Merdeka

It seemed that things were going full circle. Now, Vespas are the hipster way to travel in town and a few weekends back, I spotted a few gathering around Dataran Merdeka and I started snapping a few photos.

The guys there were pretty friendly and were very keen on their hobby. Most of them actually fix and maintain their vehicles diligently. And they cost a fair few bobs. Not exactly a cheap hobby this ....

There were many versions of the Vespas and they came from various generations. They were in pristine condition - most of them - and all the drivers had a story to tell. Great stuff all around ...

Ramadhan Walk

Since I was off for the first day of Ramadhan, I decided to take a ride into time en route to pick Anita up from Gombak. It allowed me to stop at the bank to settle some bills and took my camera with me.

That famous monorel bridge at NU SentralWaiting for my ride ...Decorations at NU SentralPacking them in ..I just got myself a new lens and was eager to give that a go. Ramadhan and the hot sunshine did not stop me.

One of the many arches near Central MarketMedan PasarStill too early for Aidil FitriWalking around Medan Pasar and Central Market at that hour was not really my idea of a photowalk, but there were quite a few subjects to aim at.

The ever-familar KL TowerThe number to call ...Masjid JamekMaking my way backThe new setup I tried - the Leica CL with Summicron-TL 23 - was a dream to use, especially as I usually use a manual setup. Focussing on this combo was fast and usually accurate despite the lens wide open. Contrast may not be as great as the Summilux-M 35 which I normally use, but the convenience of autofocus made up for it. Time to get more mileage on the lens and get use to the renderings ...

The Talk of the Town

After I casted my vote, I had the whole day in front of me. I wasn’t in the mood to stay home and Anita and I decided to have lunch outside.

We went to Pavilion which was quite. Parking was straight forward, and we had a nice Arabic meal together. Anita did some shopping while I took a stroll towards Low Yat to see what was going on.

There were two groups of local people there. Some with inks on their left index finger - which were about half - while some did not. Many of the workers at the stores told me that they were taking turns to vote and hopefully those going later had time to do the voting.

Bukit Bintang area were filled with flags as you would expect but compared to years before, they were a lot less. Many of the candidates target the voters directly on social media rather, with most of the voters going to them, rather than they coming to us. Having a big social media presence was imperative in this day and age.

The sun was great but we had to leave early to listen to the news and prepare for the night ... the results were coming in!
