Cycle Away

This is something new for KL. oBike is a bike sharing system where you use a smartphone app to book a bicycle point one point to another in town. That saved you from hailing a cab or Uber while helping to reduce pollution as well as keeping you healthy.

I downloaded the early this week, topped up some credit but has yet to use the service. The bikes in town were parked strategically making picking and dropping off the bike convenient. Anita was keen to try as well and we might just try that in the coming few weekends.

Hopefully the service could be maintained as the idea was certainly a good one. My fear was our culture of maintenance and responsibility were still generally lacking. The service owner must keep their bicycles in good nick, otherwise the public would stop using them once the initial novelty wore off.

As it stood, it was certainly a welcome sight when you see a row of bicycles parked neatly as you leave the MRT.

School Opening Soon

Another week to go before the boys were to school. Since last weekend, Anita had been busy getting their stuff ready. That meant many trips to the shops, dragging them grumpy boys. As for Idlan, most of his stuffs were from last year, needing some cleaning. Irfan on the other hand would be entering a new school. Plenty of things we needed to get for him.

The new iPadGrumpy boys waiting for their Uber ride ...Irfan also needed a new iPad for school, and we bought that last week as well.

We were getting them to go to bed early from this week, trying to get them to rise early. We had failed so far! Another week to go before the morning dramas continue ...

Sunday Scones

After buying the ingredients and browsing through many YouTube videos, Anita finally decided to take the plunge! She decided to make some scones!

For my Sunday morning breakfast.

It turned out superb and filled me up before heading out for my morning rounds .... It won’t be complete without the whipped cream and preserves. To top things out, she brought out the old China we had for England just to complete the ambiance ... Happy Sunday morning all then ...

Merdeka

Despite certain Ministers claim that KLites lacked Merdeka spirit, I think it was more to do with certain unpopular individual rather than lack patriotism. With the SEA Games coming, Malaysian would be coming out in droves to support our home team I was sure. And with that, the Merdeka spirit would be soaring high.

Unfortunately, the statement by the said Minister seemed succeeded in only making himself unpopular. Life for the KLites would still go on. These KL folks are more likely to love their country than the Minister would think. Most of them studied abroad and had a sense of belonging to return home making a living here.

Maybe the Merdeka spirit for the minister was different from mine. So, good luck to him then ....

Rimau #KL2017

The SEA Games is gripping Malaysia at the moment and the opening ceremony had even yet to happen. So far Malaysia had won more than half a dozen gold medals and the momentum was building.

Last weekend, the area in front of Pavilion by the famous fountain were covered with these little critters. Those were little miniature tigers or Harimau, which had been given a cute moniker - Rimau.

I was sure by the end of the games, those Rimau would be everywhere .... From what I have seen the games had been embraced by the KLites all over. Hopefully the events would go on smoothly. I have yet to be able to watch any of the events so far but am certainly looking forward to it. Bangkit #KL2017.
