Full Weekend

I thought I could have some down time, maybe taking snaps of the Chinese New Year decor, or at least, take the boys out for a relaxing chill out time. The weekend started nicely indeed when we went over to Marche at The Curve for dinner on Friday evening. Unfortunately, the rest of the weekend was not as chilled.

Evening at The CurveI spent Saturday at Hospital Ampang, involved in a discussion to draft out the Clinical Practice Guideline for Myeloproliferative Neoplasm. That took the whole afternoon and we decided to stay in on the evening.

Come Sunday morning, my Mum called to remind me about the plan to visit a cousin of hers in Shah Alam that has not been well for some time. She was from Ipoh, but since her illness, his eldest son brought him over. She was admitted twice to one of the medical center in Shah Alam, the second time due to low blood sugar. I suspected that it was due to her combination of diabetes and hypertension drug. She was still under the weather just then, and I wrote a note to her Physician who she planned to meet for a follow-up on Tuesday about the medications I adjusted. I don't care if he was not happy. He has had a couple of chances to sort the combination out. Hopefully he does not carry that big an ego. Unfortunately, this kind of things were not uncommon. I was not impressed with some so-called Consultant they have in the private centers.

They had some rabbits for pet there, keeping the children occupied. It was time for a late lunch when we left. Julia, my sister, wanted to try the lunch buffet at Restoran Rebung. And we did just that.

You can tell it was Chinese New Year. Red hampers all around.Of course we go green.I was watching the ManYoo-Spurs match when I drafted this entry. It was still nil-nil but an excellent game despite that. Liverpool drew against Everton earlier and I had a bet with one of my patient - a Liverpool supporter - about lunch. Hopefully I won't be too sleepy for work tomorrow morning.

A day to Recuperate

Got to kill some insects tonight .....Irfan has been unwell all day although he was much better by the afternoon. When he woke this morning, he vomited a couple of times, and again after given his medicine. He did develop temperature after lunch. I took him for a nap and he was much better when he woke up. We ended up spending the day in the house.

However, we had to some groceries in the evening and as he was keen to go out, we took him to Jaya Jusco. Had some fish and chips for dinner and he was running around by then. He was just yelling around when we told him it was time for his medicine again. After some prodding, he agreed.

We did notice when we were at JJ that the air conditioning was switched off. It was hot and balmy. When we asked the cashier, she said, "biasalah, Boss Cina. Sekarang Raya Cina. Cina tak ada datang. Bangsa lain saja. Tak payah la bukak air cond." Maybe it was tongue-in-cheek but I wonder if there is some truth in that exchange. Time to get the boys to bed again now …..

Ang Pow from patient

Disclaimer: of course the content was sent straight into the ward coffer! I don't do rasuah ah! Nanti kena tangkap!

Chinese New Year fever is gripping the ward. The number of Mandarin I consumed was enough to fill my yearly quota. Having gastritis now. The turn-up for this morning's clinic was also smaller than expected. I am therefore dreading next week's clinic as those who ran out of medications will come flooding in. Plus my colleagues will be on leave with me holding the fort!

The decors were up at MidValley

Malaysia and its unique melting pot of cultures and races mean many things. But in my head, 2 things spring to mind - many festivities and many holidays! We have a long weekend coming up since I am working in Wilayah Persekutuan. Unfortunately I will be on call on Sunday. That means, I can't go out to Port Dickson as what we would normally do. My excuse to go - the apartment needed cleaning. Well, it will have to stay dirty and dusty for another week I guess.

The main stage

As for the festivities, as usual all the main shopping malls were competing to outdo each other. I have taken some pictures from The Curve and Pavilion. Today, I was walking around MidValley in the late afternoon. Unfortunately I didn't have my LX3 with me. So, I guess my phone should do. Compared to both Pavilion and The Curve, the decor there seemed rather subdued. There was a stage built in the middle of the main foyer, which I am sure will be accommodating the lion dance troupe. There were blossoms and lotus. Here there was a mock pagoda as well. There were no activities today but I am sure there will be plenty in the weekends to come. I am sure I will check the place out again soon.

Day Out at Pavilion

The cherry blossom tree outside Pavilion.I had to do the morning round today and by the time I got back home, the boys were keen to go out again. They both spent the morning doing arts and crafts. The whole of my working table was smeared with paint. Luckily there were water-soluble. Cleaning up was not a problem. To be honest, I was not really that keen to go out since I went to bed pretty late after watching the football match. Yes! Rooney bagged four goals against Hull last night and at least for a few days, we were top of the league again .... the place where we were meant to be ..... sweet!

Swans everywhere! At the main entrance coming in from Bukit BintangCute fake waterlilliesThe main lobby was completely transformedIt's Pavilion today. Idlan wanted some miso. Yo! Sushi it was. The place was kinda crowded when we got there. We had to wait for a table, which got Idlan a bit worked up. After lunch, we explored the Chinese New Year decor at the main lobby. The lobby was rightly transformed. It was very nice indeed. However, the main attraction I must say was the fake cherry blossom tree lining the walkway outside the building. They were simply stunning. I was sure it will look even more gorgeous at night with the lighting and all. I must take Puan Anita out one of these nights, just the two of us.
