A Detour Before The Weekend

Please click the photo above to play the daily videoThe morning began the way mornings usually do — the familiar shape of it, nothing out of the ordinary until, straight after prayers, a small errand insisted on being dealt with: a document needing a signature over in Cheras, the sort of task that sounds simple right up until you remember Cheras exists and has opinions about your schedule. Parking, predictably, was behaving like a competitive sport with no clear rules, so a Grab got called instead — the sensible move, letting someone else absorb the circling and the swearing-under-breath while the paperwork got its due.

Signed, done, and back on track, the errand turned out to be the only real wrinkle in an otherwise cooperative day. In fact, things wrapped up early enough that home arrived ahead of schedule, which had the pleasant side effect of nudging the weekend forward by a few hours — one of those small administrative wins that feels disproportionately good, a bit of borrowed time nobody was expecting to have.

Dinner came with its usual companion, Silo doing what it does best — filling the background just enough to make eating feel like an event rather than a chore, without demanding the kind of attention that gets in the way of actually tasting the food. A fixture at this point, less a show than a small ritual.

Anita, midway through dinner, developed a specific and fairly insistent craving for chocolate and tea, which is not a combination that tends to be argued with, so out the two went, over to Mid Valley, on what was ostensibly a supply run but had all the makings of a proper little outing by the time it was done. There's something rather nice about an errand that talks itself into becoming an evening — no grand plan, just a want, followed through on.

The better news, tucked into the middle of it, was that her temperature had settled — properly better, the fever having finally taken the hint and left. A sore throat's still hanging about, unhelpfully, refusing to read the room the way the rest of the symptoms have, but on balance it's progress, and progress is worth noting even when it arrives with an asterisk.

So: an early weekend, a detour through Cheras that resolved itself without too much drama, chocolate duly procured, and a bit of good news on the health front even if it wasn't the full recovery yet. Days like this one don't ask for much fanfare — just a bit of patience, a following-through on small cravings, and the quiet satisfaction of watching things trend the right way, one degree at a time.
