Me and Specks

Me and Specks, originally uploaded by Haris Abdul Rahman.

Spent the whole day yesterday sorting things out for the audit in the afternoon. The auditors came and went, and they are pretty pleased with things, which is great. I am sure those of you who had to endure an audit before would testify that it can be an ordeal. This particular one was for an anticoagulant study I have been conducting for the past couple of years. The auditors were from France, Korea and Taiwan. The lady from Taiwan was particularly menacing, but her boss, the Parisian guy was pretty steady and complementary. It may be just a French thing I think.

Lanyau and the othersPavillion in the evening!Anyhow, in the evening after work, I had dinner with Specks, one of my old buddy from school. He is now working for a Pharmaceutical company in London and is just back for a couple of weeks. He brought with him a couple of friends, an actor from Bristol and his girlfriend, a Medical Microbiologist from Cardiff. We had dinner at Madam Kwan in Pavillion, and we were graced by the presence of Madam Kwan herself! They had some Char Koey Teow, and so did I. Another old Terendakian also came with us, Lanyau. They are off to Cherating tomorrow morning having just got back from a weekend in Langkawi. I can see that they were all sporting a tan!

Lovely T Shirt

Lovely T Shirt, originally uploaded by Haris Abdul Rahman. Those who attended MRSM will definitely understand the last line on the T-shirt.

Yes, it's Monday. After a hectic weekend with the birthdays and all, I settle for a spot of badminton. I plan to spent the rest of the week cooked up with my planned proposal because the feedback I got from Melbourne was not very encouraging. More alterations and all.

As for the T-shirt, I thought i was a classic one. Only those who attended MRSM would understand what was written. The last line is the first line of the song all of us were forced to sing. The line really stuck in our head.

The session last night was rather different because one of my senior, Razali (Dato' Razali to all you peasants), the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister turned up as well. He was suppose to have a camera crew with him, but because he came late they had to reschedule. Usually around 12 people turn up for the session. Instead more than 30 came. I wonder what the attraction was. The funny thing was some of them I don't even know, and all they did was grinning while Razali was there. Typical I thought!

He was surprisingly fit because we thought he would've given up after a couple of games. The last time he came was a couple of months prior to the UMNO Youth election. Now that he is a Deputy Minister, I can imagine that his time will be more limited. However kudos for at least trying to spend some time with his old buddies. And yes, we still call him Razali!

We spoke about my time in UMNO before and how I can't continue now with my work commitment. He can't stay after the games for teh tarik as he has an engagement this morning. We were back to NZ this time around but the mee ladna was not as nice. I have to have a word with the cook then!

Under the weather

Been feeling under the weather for the last couple of days, hence absence from the web. My wife said it was 'Demam Man United' after our beloved United clinched another Premiership title the other day. I tried to brave myself by going out to see my friends playing badminton but no can do, felt back again right after.

I can assure everyone however that it was no H1N1. The conformed cases in Malaysia sure looked to be discharged in the next day or so. So, thank God, no death here. Imagine the panic if there is so! Just earlier today, I saw a lady on the car next to me at the traffic light actually was wearing a mask while driving. She noticed that I peeked around. It was worst then when my son Irfan started pointing and laughing at her. Luckily the light switched soon after and she took a turn! Phew!

The pics above was of my friend after the badminton game having a drink. I had some mee ladna of course!
