The Day Off

The coughing returned with a vengeance late last night. It wasn't helped by the fact that I was watching Downton Abbey until last midnight. In the end, I managed some sleep, but it could've been better.

But I felt much better this morning. The sore throat definitely was gone. Wow! The Zithromax really worked. Although I closed the clinic this morning, I still have a few patients in the ward, as well as a couple of admissions this morning. But I made it clear that I would only be available in the morning. Planning to have the afternoon and evening all by myself. I'll probably be doing some cleaning at my home office, with all the papers strewn everywhere. Or maybe. A few more episodes of Downton Abbey. I had a few more episodes of the second series to go through .....

Admitting Defeat

My cough turned green this morning and the fever returned. Had to get some proper antibiotics, and close the clinic for tomorrow. I waited until after the morning rush was over before setting off for my ward round. And even then, I was coughing away.

Saw our family Doctor, who started me on antibiotics. Returned for the afternoon clinic and sorted out my paper works. Decided just to come in for wars rounds. Clinic ha been cancelled. I wouldn't be driving in early. And would be taking some time off in the afternoon.

So, hopefully this antibiotics would work wonders. I have to bounce back before my on call on Thursday.

The Joy of Being Driven

I woke up this morning with a right sore throat. My brother-in-law, spending Hari Raya break from Turkmenistan was feeling feverish since yesterday and I was not surprised if I were to catch the bug off him. The fact that I had been traveling during the weekend did not help.

My voice went all nasal by mid-morning, and I had a couple of lectures to deliver in the afternoon. My voice became worst by lunchtime, so I had some soup and salt water gargle, and the throat improved a bit. I was too tired to drive myself to PJ Hilton for my talk, and had to ask our driver to take me there.

I arrived just in time for some more soup. One of the organiser brought me some warm honey to drink and it worked a treat. Managed to deliver the talk - nasal of course. I napped on the way back in the car.

Felt a bit rough still when I woke up at home. Just had some paracetamol and dinner. Feeling less feverish. I was sure Anita would ask me to sleep in the study. She would be worried if the boys caught the virus from me. Planning for an early night.

The Flu Beckoned

It looked like it was going to be a gloomy day today. Anita now had the fever, must be off the children. She had planned for iftar with her friends later today, but that plan had to be put on hold. Dad-in-law also had the flu. Plenty of them circling around I was afraid.

Luckily, they had it this week rather than next week when Aidilfitri came along. So, it would be a school run for me this morning ….

Xmas at The Curve

I spent most of the day today in bed. Since yesterday evening I had been troubled by sore throat, I knew something was brewing. I went to bed pretty early but was woken up by cough and shivering. Paracetamol helped but the sore throat continued until the morning. By breakfast I was not able to swallow anything, so I was not able to go to Kelang today. Instead I spent the whole day doing some slides, getting through some paperwork, and generally just taking it easy.

Complete with carol By the afternoon the fever subsided. I was able to walk around a bit. The boys has been rather restless today, and by early evening they insisted on me taking them out for a drive. Since I hardly have eaten anything, Anita was keen to take me out for dinner. I wanted to have some soup and finally relented. We headed out to The Curve. For the boys, The Curve equals Marche.

For the Christmas period, the main foyer of the curve has been transformed into a winter wonderland. The transformation was pretty drastic to be quite honest. There was  Christmas Carol singing as well as the oblogatory Santa’s Grotto. Unfortunately there were no Santarina. They were stalls selling ornaments and cookies. After a few snaps, we decided to head for dinner. I wasn’t in much of a mood to walk around anyway. I had some pizza and mushroom soup. The Swiss mocha was nice and it did wonders for my palate. The boys enjoyed the time there especially with the very nice indoor decor and lighting they had in the restaurant. I felt a bit better after dinner, so we decided to have a nice evening walk. Few more snaps, and I felt that I needed more paracetamol. Time to head home.

A more subdued IKANO Power CenterTopped off by Puan Anita buying a couple of umbrellas

I wish that I had a bit more time to walk around enjoying the decorations. Unfortunately with the flu and sore throat that was just not possible. I don’t think I would have enjoyed it that much. Anyway as you can see I managed to get a few nice photographs to share and I bet it was going to be jam-packed during the weekend with all the Christmas shoppers showing up. While at Marche, we also booked them up for a gingerbread-making session some time during the last week before Christmas. I think this session will be on a Wednesday afternoon and we booked both Idlan and Irfan to join up. Something to look forward to.
