Congrats Habibah

It's Habibah's wedding today, and I was there quite early having gone out to get myself a brand new pair of shoes. Finding her house proved to be a challenge since I was not familiar with the area.

Waiting for everyone to arriveThe happy couple arrivingWhen I finally got there, I was amongst the first to arrive. Habibah's family home was right beside the main Alor Gajah, Melaka and Muar road and traffic was quite heavy. But once you reached there it is pretty clear that it was a tranquil kampung. The entrance lead straight into an area of houses all occupied by her family members. So guess were lead around te compound where tents were built. There were 3 departed eating area with a separate theme.

I was lead to a tent underneath durian trees. No! There were no risk of fruit hitting my head. There were none to be seen. I shared a table with a couple of doctors who were UM gradutes from the 70s and 80s. They were talking about UH was back then. Quite an interesting lunch.

Food was very nice, biryani I'm afraid, so there went my diet. I wondered around the other tent waiting for staff from UM to arrive a few of them dis before the bride and groom arrived.

Looking so happy - kanak-kanak riang gitu!Being stopped at the entraceHabibah and Azman arrived just after 1.30, and were paraded with pantun and kompang in the background. They were wearing maroon and orange/teal theme, swamped by photographers. I left after bersanding as I have other plans with the kids later.

Weather however may be too warm for boys today, but I'll try not to curb their enthusiasm too much. We'll see what they wanted to do. As for Habibah and Azman, all the best and congratulations!

Checking in

Yes! Habibah’s wedding was this weekend and the troupe headed for Melaka. Since Friday was a long day for me, we only left KL at 7pm. It was raining heavily and the traffic was heavy before we enter the North-South Highway. We finally arrived at Bandar Melaka at around 10pm, got all our stuffs into the hotel room and settled in at around 10.30. Luckily, since the boys were asleep all the way down, they were in great mood. They were really excited as yo would expect. They checked out all the amenities … so to speak. We ordered room service and they got their supper, then ran around some more.

The main sitting areaInside the bedroomFirst order of business, room serviceI was really tired by midnight and slept on the couch. I can’t tell what time they hot the bed. We got ourself a suite right at the top floor. Cost us a bit but I think it was well worth it. He funny thing was, to get to our executive lounge and butler service, we had to go down to the third floor. We’ll look out for those the next morning I think. The boys have been making plans about what to visit while they are here. Most of the attractions were in Ayer Keroh, but that will a drive away. Might be an idea to explore the town for Saturday and go over to Ayer Keroh on the way home on Sunday. Will look into things after breakfast the next morning I think. I have a small matter of getting myself a new pair of shoes as I left mine in KL. I can’t attend the wedding in my Crocs since I will be one of the ushers, welcoming the Medics and Haematologist who shows up. It would be a good form I think …. Habibah’s family would have killed me on the spot.

Idlan stamping his markWhile all I was thinking about was .... zzzzzWill post the pics and the gossips later today!

KLickers in Melaka

From the sound of it, the KLickers had a great time in Melaka yesterday. It was a roadtrip over there organised by the 'management'. Unfortunately I was on call yesterday and wold be a pain to leave Lembah Kelang in case anything happens at the hospital Looking through the photograph, I wished that I was there.

A Famosa, Melaka

I was asked to attend a "Train the Trainers" course at A Famosa, Melaka. For an early start tomorrow morning, we were asked to travel down there today. The traffic going down was surprisingly light considering today is the last day of school holidays. It took me just under 1 and a half hour between leaving my Mum's house in KL and actually rolling my luggage into my room.

The dining area at Golfer's TerraceThe Main LobbyI spend yesterday reeling about coming. I really was not keen. Hopefully, the easy journey down here signaled a good start. I was told, the course is basically about epidemiology. The attendees will be asked to teach the Medical Students in the coming few month concerning the matter. The lectures will be conducted by speakers from the Julius Center in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Checking in was smooth. I sort of like remember the place from my trip back in 2006 with the family where we rented a bungalow in the compound. That was the first real outing with Irfan. He first learned to walk here. There was also a swimming pool at the bungalow. That's where Irfan had his first outing at the pool. He has been addicted ever since.

For dinner, I walked round the block at the main reception building. That will also be the place where I will have the lectures tomorrow. The buffet restaurant is called Golfer's Terrace. The spread was pretty basic. I had some salad and spaghetti. Was rather tired anyway.

My RoomThe hotel room was also pretty basic. I have a queen-sized bed. There is no wi-fi, but luckily I got my E71 hooked up to Celcom HSDPA. The were only basic TV channels. I thought I will have some coffee before bed.
