Mum Going Home
Both My Mum and brother-in-law was doing much better. My Mum was being discharged today, while my brother would be staying for another evening. Their fever had settled and their platelet counts were heading north. Anita spent last evening cleaning her Mum's room with the maids. She also went out shopping buying groceries and containers for the room. I couldn't tell at what time she went to bed last night.
As for me, I went to bed early with the boys since I would be on call today. Anita was on the way over with the drivers to pick her Mum home and sorting out the discharges. I was waiting for some blood results in clinic. The clinic appeared full. It was Saturday after all.
Settling Down
Irfan skipped school today since Anita had to stay the whole morning with her Mum. The initial plan was for her to spend the night last night, but since Mum was feeling much better, she asked Anita to stay with the kids instead. Mum's appetite was much better, and she starting to nag again - which can only be good.
As for my brother-in-law, he was feeling more lethargic. His fever was still high and his platelet count was dropping. His room was on a different level to Mum, so he was not able to walk around there. Anita made sure both of them were settled before leaving to pick Idlan up. As for me, I would have to return tonight for a patient. I would be dropping by to see how things were as well. Maybe I had to drop something for them then.
Now It Was His Turn
I have been waiting for the last hour or so for my brother-in-law to come over to the hospital. He was also hit with dengue and would need fluids and admission. As for my Mum-in-law, she seemed to be improving although she was still not out of the woods yet. And Anita was really worried. It was very likely that she would be staying over with her Mum tonight, and I had to take some time preparing for slides tonight. I have a lecture to deliver on Thursday afternoon.
Luckily, the clinic had been light this morning and I was expecting any complicated discharges today. A couple of my patients would still need sorting out though. Hopefully, once things settle down, everything would be back to normal. I would be on call this Saturday though …..
More Monitoring
It seems that Mum would be staying in the hospital for a few more days and the fever was still high. In dengue, the fever usually persist for around five days. Today would be Day 4. The would need constant monitoring. She was still tired and refused breakfast. No appetite.
My brother-in-law just had his own blood test, and was also positive for dengue. Up next would be a cousin of Anita who was also staying at the house. He had been having body ache for the last couple of days. He would have some tests tomorrow. So far, the boys had been fine. I was OK as well.
Next up, we were arranging for the maid to accompany my Mum tonight. We would need a small deck chair. The next couple of days would be a challenge .....
