Lift Issue

During ward round this morning, one of my patient complained that he had to use the stairs - to the fifth floor - since the lifts were down.

The worry was, none of the lift were in order - except maybe the service lifts for emergency - so what happened if there is a mad rush or emergency? Apparently the lifts were down for maintenance. Sunday being the least busy day it made sense. But not if you switch off all the lifts at the same time ...

A New Week

Last week was a blur. The whole week. It had been busy and it didn't stop until over the weekend. Today was the first day that I could really catch a breather. It had been busy one way or the other, but luckily we were spending time at the apartment rather than back in Gombak.

We finally moved back to the house yesterday, the boys were in school and Anita had a free afternoon.

It would be tax week. I just need to write some cheque and file some documents before then. At least Thursday would be a day off. Labour Day.

Doctor's Day

I didn't even know that such day existed. And for some reason, SJMC celebrated the Doctor's day last week, which brought suspicion to everybody.

We were celebrated with a nice lunch, plus everybody were given a box of chocolate. Not just any chocolate, but Royce, Idlan's favourite, which he gobbled down in one sitting. The whole box!

I also recieved a nice gift by my ward staff. The Day Care gave me a nice card and a scrumptious cupcake. Suspicion aside, it was quite a nice gesture.

So, Happy Doctor's Day to all my colleagues ...

The Talks

So, the buzz around was that the new fee schedule for private doctors would be implemented soon. Of course, there was backlash from the public as expected. After all, it was trying times after all economy wise. I could fully understand their sentiment. But for the likes of myself and my colleagues, it was a long-awaited change and something of a necessity as practising medicine became more challenging.

Last week, we had a couple of rounds of briefing on the very matter. It got heated at times. Hopefully, all the kinks would be ironed out soon.

Some of the fees had already been changed to good effect. Some still awaiting clarification and were put on hold.

The next few weeks would be interesting ...

Pledge Tree

Have you made your pledge yet?

Yesterday, we celebrated the World Cancer Day at Subang, but unfortunately I was stuck in clinic all morning and was not able to attend. A couple of my patients who attended actually texted me but I was just too pushed for time.

As part of the event, they had a show by the cancer survivors as well as information booths and health screening, the usual stuff.

And what caught my eye was this pledge tree. Need to have another look tomorrow as I wasn't clear what the deal was about ....
