Flying over Tugu

After the morning flight, my hands were itchy for another go. It turned out that the weather was kind. Time to head out again.

This time around, Anita came along. As it was already quite late - we were at our old classmate's place earlier - we decided to go somewhere near our place. It was an easy choice, Tugu Negara - The National Monument.

Climbing above the treesDirectly aboveI set up the take off point at the field by the ASEAN Monuments. I made a few passes over the Tugu before exploring the rest of the park pointing the camera towards town to capture the skyscape.

A quick peek into town ...The sun was almost down ....The sunset was not that pretty because of the heavy cloud cover though. Great going.

The Maiden Flight

Sunday Morning, and I have less than half a dozen patients to review in the ward. I decided to start the day early with a short drive to Taman Tasik Titiwangsa. There was a fun run going on in town and some of the route were diverted. I didn't have any issues getting there though and at around 7.30 am, I got everything set up.

Then came the calibration and pre-flight stuffs. All the connections were in order and I have updated the firmware on the drone the night before. All charged up and with the press of a button - or in this case, a swipe on the screen - the Phantom 4 was airborne. And off it climbed!

I picked an open space around 100 meters from the car park. There was no trees to block my view and I soon got the drone flying above the famous Tasik Titiwangsa. I snapped some photos, pointed the drone towards the city centre and snapped some more. Next came the video recording. For the first flight, I decided to keep things simple and recorded the footage in HD rather than 4K.

45 minutes later, I was out of juice from both the battery packs and it was time to head home and study the footage.

A new perspective into my photography from this angle. Shame that the light was not the best ...There was a miniature radio car circuit right next doorMe with some spectators at base camp ...The maiden flight went off without an issue. There was a couple occasions where the connection with the drones dropped due to interference, but it reconnected within a few seconds. ANd the footage looked amazing.

I wished that the weather was a bit better. It was an overcast morning and the sun was well hidden behind a wall of cloud. There was hardly any contrast in my snaps but the angle alone from which the photos were taken guaranteed a different perspective on my snaps. I kinda loved it! And the quality of the camera was much more than I expected!

I also realised than how important planning was for each flights, what route to take and when to get images or video. I still got plenty to learn plus I would need to sharpen up on my post-processing workflow as well. I needed some training for Final Cut Pro!

All in all, it was a great outing which made me dream for more .....

Great Light

After many afternoons of going out for photography and putting, we decided to stay in this Sunday afternoon. I was actually having a map after lunch. And today, the weather turned out to be gorgeous!

But since we had planned to stay indoors, Idlan just finished his homework and generally had a quiet night in. How I wished I was outside instead...

EdpressSushi is Moving

I knew that I will be craving it during the upcoming Ramadhan, so I decided to indulge for lunch today at the usual spot at Great Eastern Mall.

The place was full today, being a Sunday lunch time, and we were also informed that our beloved EdpressSushi will be moving to another spot - which happened to be where one of our friend was living - after Raya later. They had been at the spot since 2009. Not sure if we could go there as frequently as we were doing now since the current shop was directly in front of the supermarket where we sometimes do our groceries. Kinda tied in with our routine.

I think he's trying to break the tip jar!Anyhow, they had to move on. Maybe once in a while we would drop by to catch up. The boys were still babies when they started going there.

Fancy a Dip?

After finishing his homework, Idlan asked if he could go to the pool for a dip. Initially I was hesitant since it had been raining in late afternoons lately. Luckily for today, the rain came early. By the time we went down, the drizzle had stopped and the pool was empty!

Party time! Couldn't hang around for too long though since it was almost Maghrib!
