A Long Sunday

I woke up this morning in glorious sunshine having a nice sleep. No phone calls until 7 am, when I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth, pray, check on the boys and slept again in front of the TV while checking on the news.

Learned that Liverpool got beat again. Always a good start to a Sunday!

When I finally left the room, it was just after 9. Had some food before starting the Weekly Sunday Morning Ward Round (tm). And it was a long one, adding to that a few new referrals and admission. It was close to 3 pm when I finally left the hospital.

Decided to take Anita out for a late lunch, and off we went to Pavilion for my favourite Arab food. This was followed by a trip to the flower shop which Anita had been talking about. She wanted some indoor orchids for the apartment now that the renovations were almost done. I didn’t realise that there was a warehouse close to our place which sold flowers in bulks. And they were really fresh, usually bought by flower shops from around town for profit. As you can imagine, things there were pretty cheap and the post-CNY business was slow at the moment.

Anita bought a few flowers but planned for more in the coming days once she knew where to put them.

Nothing beats a nice afternoon dipThe weather wasn't really clever, but it was breezy!Nice sunset when we left the oolChecking on the homework ...As soon as I reached home, Idlan asked if he could go to the pool. Without hesitation, it was time to get wet! We were in the pool until almost sundown .... A full day indeed. And now United would be playing at midnight and SuperBowl would be tomorrow morning. Though I have a full day planned, I might catch a glimmer or two of the match at work. Time to tuck the boys in bed .... After doing their homework of course.

Another Stretch

They don’t come in easy and I was greeted with the start of my stretch of calls this morning with a referral of all referrals. A dengue patient in shock!

Straight to ICU. And into the scheme of things.

For the coming weeks, I would be at it again. Something like 5 calls in 2 plus weeks. And I planned to take a few days off right around Thaipusam - which happened to be on Irfan’s birthday! Some relief time planned ahead.

But in the meantime, it would be back to the mean calls .... Bring it on!!!!!

Decided on Me Time

Enough was enough and I decided to devote my Sunday .... to me. Good thing that Anita was out with her friends, I went into town, had some biryani lunch at Masjid India. Took my camera out and walk around town.

Catching my ride from my parking spot, KL SentralFirst stop would be to get some biryaniThe biryani here at Restoran Shahira is not bad at all. A hidden gem!Managed to catch an exhibit or two, before sitting down for a long lunch. For the last 6 straight Sundays I had been at the hospital and it was high time that I stayed away for once. I also had a few days leave lined up from next weekend, so I decided to switch off.

Seeing what's cooking in the bazaar ...Plenty of people coming and going ....Before I walk across to Medan Pasar ....The weather was nice for a walkabout, and I used the time to get myself acquainted with my new camera bag. Yesterday I put a couple of camera bodies in them and it felt a tad too heavy. It had better balance with just one, plus an iPad and some dongles. That was better. And I didn't have to worry about my wallet as well. Everything was in the bag. I only wished that the sides were a bit more sturdy and it tended to lose its shape if I didn't put the content the right way.

Off to Suria for some coffeeThat escalated to some bite ....And a bit of blogging ....So, I planned to enjoy another couple of hours to myself and hopefully there won't be anybody ringing. Happy Sunday!

A Bit of PULP

Free Sunday morning afforded me a chance to indulge on something rather rare. A breakfast without interruption at a cafe. And that was I just did this morning and the venue was not that far from where I leave. It was only a five minute drive on the other side of the hill.

It was not just a cafe, but a series of them. I decided to park myself at the first spot - called PULP by Papa Palheta. There were a few other cafe shops around the same compound. Not to mention a barber shop. One of the outlet is called Breakfast Thieves and the place was packed at 9.30 am on a Sunday!

I doubt that they were still using this old machineSome reading materialThere was also a barber shop plus a Malay-themed eatery called Agak-Agak. That was not as popular though. From what I have read, the compound used to be a printing press - called APW or Art Printing Works - as it sat right next to the NST headquarters. Interesting ...

As usual, Anita was a tea drinkerOrder at the counter ...Food were readyPULP was surprisingly small. There had seating for only around 30 patron and it got full rather quickly. The menu items were also pretty limited, and I was sure the place was more known for its coffee rather than breakfast. None the less we ordered breakfast for two - a hot pot of beans, sausages, cheese and toast. I had mocha and Anita ordered tea. And that set us back almost RM70! Certainly it wasn’t cheap. Plus the charge of RM7 for parking as the roadside were already full.

The barber shop next doorThe industrial looking surrounding. Agak-agak served Malay breakfast ...Breakfast Thieves. We shall try this in the future ...Ambiance-wise it was great. The outlets opened early - from 9 am and closed on Mondays. We should’ve had our breakfast at Breakfast Thieves instead but it was always nice to try something new. Would definitely be going there again in the future. In fact Anita had been planning her next reunion spot there very soon ....

Happy Sunday Morning

That rare Sunday morning when I was forced not to do the ward round, I was treated to a glorious sunrise.

In fact I just sat there staring away for a good 10 minutes listening to the sound of nature. Cool breeze from my room balcony, I thought I should do it more often. Maybe I should delay starting my Sunday rounds early. Enjoy the morning a bit ....

Now, should I go to the gym or look for breakfast .....
