Missing the M

Over the last few months, I have been neglecting my Leica M. Maybe I was so used to the autofocus on my Sony and Fuji, as well as my exploration of wide angle snaps. The M 240 had been in my dry cabinet for far too long and last weekend, I decided to take it out for a spin.

Wow! Was I missing a lot. Coupled with the Summilux-35, you could tell where the charm lies. The crisp RAW files coming out from the camera as well as that instant snap you get off the lens could not be replicated by other set up.

Should I have more free time in the coming weeks, I would definitely be taking it for more spins ...

4K Upgrade

While most of the crowd were excited about the iPhone 8, I was waiting for the Apple TV 4K. Finally I could twin it with my main TV and get HDR to boot.

I guess that I wasn't the only one looking for them. I had to go to a couple of shops before managing to lay my hands on one. And even then, I only managed to get the lower end 32 GB. But it was enough to do the trick.

As usual, getting it set up was easy and I managed to log into my US account within 10 minutes. Most of my old purchases had been updated to 4K and they streamed without a hitch.

The apps were still playing at HD though and those included Netflix and YouTube. Luckily I got 4K streaming directly on my TV for those. Managed to watch the latest episode of Designated Survivor before I called it the night. So far, so good ...

Deepavali at the Malls

Last weekend, I had the chance to hit the town for a quick walk. It was the weekend after Deepavali and the decorations were still up. It had been a while since I had the chance to go out with my camera and explore.

I was lucky enough to be able to stop at both Suria KLCC and later Pavilion and I just could not resist the chance. It was just too good ....

The one at Suria featured a couple of giant peacocks in the middle of the main foyer. With their long tails and shimmering lights of the main atria, the colours were just great.

The decorations at Pavilion was slightly different. It was more traditional with large kolam filling up the main floor. The other day, they had a dance troupe doing their merry dance there. Quite a spectacle ...

I wished that I had time to explore Nu Sentral which is located right in the heart of Brickfields ....

Anita's New Light

Anita had been busy doing the balcony and in the last few days had bought some plants from Sungai Buloh filling the main balcony.

Next up would be the bedroom balcony which was a lot smaller. And I though the lights that she bought was a nice touch. Feeding on solar energy, charging its battery during the day, the lights were portable and we could just place then anywhere.

It looks like she would be looking for more of the lights tomorrow ...

Buih

It sure reminded me of Lush, a brand of alternative bath product in the UK. They sold it by weight and my favourite was called "Red Rooster", with it's tangy, zesty smell that would wake you up during the cold winter mornings.

They never made it big time in Malaysia although there were outlets selling them in Singapore.

During our walk at Riuh last weekend we came across a local company producing the same range of product called "Buih" which translates to "bubbles" in Malay - or similar at least. No "Red Rooster" unfortunately. Not many choices when it came to soaps so I just tried me that was available. They certainly got potential ... Maybe in the coming months they would come up with more products ...
