Done with Aqiqah

Alhamdulillah. The plan fell into place and now, even the mess had been cleared. The boys wanted pizza after the event, and now we were waiting for the delivery. The lamb curry was not their cup of tea unfortunately.

The food was great, and throng of people came from the Tahfiz - around 50 in the end. The recital took close to an hour, during which time the boys were occupied by their cousins.

Irfan and Idlan came down in time to distribute the gifts, which they did with aplomb. The food was also really nice, the lamb kuzi and ayam percik among others. I have yet to have a proper lunch and would do so soon. Bon apetit.

Aqiqah Is Set

Everything is now set. Even the food from the caterer and the Aqiqah dish were already delivered to my Aunt's house. And it was not even time for the Jumaat Prayers yet. Things looked to be running smooth this morning. Alhamdulillah.

The weather was also very warm. With no sign of rain. To hot and sunny maybe.

We just got confirmation from the Ustaz from the Tahfiz that they would come over right after the prayers, followed by the recitals and doa', and then the food. I just worried that the boys from the Tahfiz - they were going to be 30 boys all together - would be hungry while reciting. The Ustaz insisted however that we only eat after.

At least, the Aqiqah were sorted. After this, it would be the preparation for the Aqad Nikah and wedding on Sunday.

Long Day!

Wen after a nice nap in the afternoon, I slept like a baby last night. Maybe all the work at the hospital was taking a toll. I woke up his morning refreshed, and ready for breakfast, ninjas to wait for the boys to be ready.

Long day today. Would be back to my Aunt's place after breakfast. Then, some hanging around until Jumaat prayer and lunch. Aqiqah right after that.

I also need to get some batteries for my flash. Would need them for the photos later this afternoon!

For The Aqiqah

Aqiqah is an Islamic ritual welcoming a child and in Malaysia is steep with tradition. It involved sacrificing a lamb or cow, giving a feast for the neighbour as a sign of gratitude. We did Idlan's many years back at my Mum's. We decided to perform Irfan's this time here in Kelantan.

The slaughtering was done this morning before we arrived. The Aqiqah ceremony itself would be tomorrow, where we invited children from a nearby Tahfiz for lunch after the Jumaat prayers.

So, we had been planning this for a number of months, including the catering, the readings for the event as well as the goody bags and other things on the day. We were praying that the weather would be kind and everything would be running smoothly, InsyaAllah.

As for tonight, the two boys were creating havoc in the living room, while Anita and my Aunts, we're busy making last minute preparations and filling up the gifts. My job was to make sure that sarongs in the goody bags were in proper order. As for tomorrow, I had to make sure the boys were cued and clued up with what would be going on. We wouldn't want any drama .....

Checking In

After lunch, and all the discussion were done at my Aunt's place, we headed into town to check in. We often stay at Grand RiverView as the suites there were specious. I used to say that the price was reasonable but recently they had a price hike. And for Kota Bharu, I must say it was not a great return.

Anyhow, the rooms were comfortable. Our suite had an adjoining door with the maids which was a bonus. I actually slept all afternoon with Irfan, hence the lack of updates on the blog or Path.

We were now back to Aunt's place for dinner and more preparation. This time it was for Irfan's Aqiqah tomorrow. More on that later.
