Lunch Escapade

I decided to venture out during lunch time today. I had been starving all morning, but since the traffic coming into Subang was rather heavier than usual today, I decided to wait until lunch before I get out. I escaped early as I did not have any clinic and went over to Sunway Pyramid. The place was still empty at the time. A quick sushi then I was off. But I had some time to explore the place.

The famous skating rink at the lower ground floor. The Deepavali decorations were in full swing

There were plenty of eatery around there, and the only way to get in and out of there quickly would be to get in before noon. By the time the afternoon crowd hit the place, parking would be a nightmare.

I left the carpark - which was almost full to the brim just before 1. By the time I reached the hospital, my phone went off. There was an emergency I needed to attend. So, off I ran up the stairs, in the nick of time. I also bought a book while I was there ….. but more on that later!

We Came Up Short

You win some. You lose some. And occasionally you get well beaten. And tonight was one of those occasion. Citeh played well. They wanted the game more. We were lackluster. We lacked passion. We deserved to get beat. And did they not half delivered it to us. Would really hate to be in United's dressing room at this very minute. The hairdryer must be out at full blast!

Hopefully we would learn a thing or two from this mauling. We were far too comfortable. And that bread overconfidence and arrogance. I felt that we did not give enough respect to the opponent. They had certainly improved. And in all honesty, only Rooney turned up for the game.

The only consolation was this heavy defeat came early in the season, with enough time for us to adjust. Hopefully, in the next few matches, we would get things back on track, while hoping City drop a few points as well. There were times when we were soundly beaten before and went on to win the Premiership - although to be fair, these tended to be away from home.

At NZ earlier, getting my tandoori fix before the game. Obviously that did not work this time ....Sports-wise, it had certainly been an eventful day. The horrific death of Marco Simoncelli at Sepang MotoGP. The Old Blacks lifting the Webb Ellis on home soil. And then this defeat. My thoughts though goes to Simoncelli's family. RIP!

A Quick Cuppa

I found myself having too much free time in between lunch and late free boom ward round. Most of that time was spent hanging around the Doctor's mess.

But luckily today, there were procedures to be done. Another 10 minutes before everything cooked. Just enough time for a cup of coffee. It looked gloomy again outside. Very likely that I would be driving home in the rain again, although that would be after dinner as there is a meeting I would be attending in Ara Damansara a bit later on.

Hunting High and Low

I have a confession to make. I had been a fan of a-ha since high school. Put it this way, their favourite song was not "Take On Me" - it was "I have been Losing You" and "Seemingly Endless July" if you must know.

A few weeks ago, I stumbled across a YouTube video of Coldplay doing a cover of "Hunting High and Low", one of their early hits, with the keyboardist Magnus Furuholmen supporting. It was surreal. It turned out that a-ha was one of Chris Martin's favourite band. It did not take long before I downloaded their Greatest Hits album from iTunes.

Unfortunately, there were a few numbers missing, and it looked like I had to do a few more downloads later. Anyhow, I'm happy with what I had so Save & Closefar. All those catchy tunes on the drive to work.

Apparently, a-ha disbanded for good last year. But judging from their YouTube videos, they still got it. Morten Harket's voice is still as good as ever - all five octaves of them.

Talk at Mandarin Oriental

I had the chance to give a talk at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, near KLCC last week. I have been there a couple of times or meals, but I had never attended talks or any functions there before. I was surprised at how big the main ballroom was. It was huge.

Since it was a working day, I went to the hotel after my ward round. Parked at KLCC as I can enter the carpark very easily from Jalan Run Razak. The session was already starting when I arrived. Got my bit done, then lunch before heading back to work again.

Time for some doodling while listening to talksDr Jay Suriar talking about treatment of antiphospholipid syndrome. Right after lunch. On the way out, I noticed this nice little cafe at the main lobby. Full of the corporate-types at this time of the day.Never actually had the chance to look around, or sample the atmosphere. The food was rather good, but they only opened a couple of rows. The selection was quite good - local, Italian, Japanese and Western.

The cafe at the lobby looked rather nice ......
