Time for the Big Match

Had a nap, then was awaken by Puan Anita just in time for the Chelski-United match. Watching it in the dark, with the volume turned down needed getting used to, but I had not much of a choice. The alternative would be to go downstairs to the bar. Not at midnight though.

So the match kicked off, and it looked like it would be a great one. Then Chelski were gifted a goal courtesy of Johnny Evans against the run of play. United then threatened to hit back with Cech pulling a couple of excellent saves before halftime.

I was optimistic for the second half. Unfortunately, it was only five minutes since the kick off and Chelski just scored twice. So I decided to write this entry. Halfway in, Evra was brought down in the box. Rooney belted in the resultant penalty. Game on!

A mountain to climb still .....

To Infiniti, and Then A Sip of Tea

Just finished having it large at the Infiniti Pool. Up on the 57th floor at the deck called the SkyPark. I didn't have a swim, but the two boys did. And boy, did they have fun. The overcast weather certainly helped. There was a nice breeze as well.

Sipping a glass of ice tea, enjoying the panorama. We were lucky that we managed to get onto a deck chair to put our stuffs and generally just chilled by the wading pool. It was crowded, and a few of the children there were from Malaysia as well, taking advantage of the long weekend back home.

We just had shower in the room. We planned to go out again for dinner at a nearby mall. We probably couldn't afford any shopping from what we've seen so far .....

Check in done

After a hold-up at the Tuas Checkpoint on the way in - traffic! - we finally got to enjoy the pleasant drive across town to out hotel. Check-in was ultra efficient and the room was impressive.

Now, everybody is peckish, and I have yet to have my lunch. Room service time!

At Yong Peng

We left Philea at around 10.30, and the initial plan was to stop at Yong Peng for lunch. We ended up arriving there well too early.

In the end, we took out some KFC just in case there is a hold-up at the crossing to Singapore. Happy Journey!

The Pool is Cool

This place is a blast. In not talking about the food, nor the activities you can get your teeth into, but just the venue. A quick escape from KL by the highway - checked. Nice spacious room - checked. Nice pool with separate area for kids - checked. Kids play room - checked.

So, what more can you ask? More about that later. Let's now concentrate on the positives.

As you arrived at the main lobby, you leave your luggage and then drive your car to the carpark located round the corner - quite far from the main reception area unless you are a VIP. Like anything else in Melaka, VIP get separate treatment re Ali Rostam.

While you're checking in, you were given a fresh towel to clean up and a glass of nice drink to quench your thirst. Argh!

Checking in was straight forward as we had already paid online. The room we got was right on the opposite end of the resort. The honeymoon area I supposed. We should have gone for the villa rather than a standard room. For the price we already paid, the extra wound make much difference.

We were really impressed with the room. It was all timber, with a comfortable bed, a verandah with nice breeze. The tall ceiling with a fan made the room feel cool, and the lighting brought the ceiling window made for an airy feeling. You have a dressing area, a couple of sofa in the room and more seating at the verandah. Once you get into the room, you just wanted to stay indoors and forget about what's going on outside.

But we had to go out, and off the the pool we went. Was it worth the venture out? It was. The pool was real nice. Separate main and wading pool. Nice afternoon breeze on an overcast day. They have small pavilion for you to chill if you just wanted to sit down and nap. We had a whale of a time by the pool and only got out near Maghrib.

Walked back to our room, hit the shower, and then off for dinner.

More about the dinner as unfortunately that was a drag. Suffice to say, the room was excellent. Clearly a lot of effort was put into the built and ambiance. Unfortunately, it lacked a full package to be worth the excess of RM 600 we paid for the stay.
