A Grand Day Out

The guest-of-honour had to do some work in the end ....

The initial plan when I went to London last week was to hook up with an old buddy of mine who still remained in the UK after finishing his medical studies. Currently he was in Pharmaceutical industry, awaiting to transfer to Frankfurt. Therefore, he decided to use the time before the transfer to spend some time back home in KL. He was due to return to London tomorrow evening. So, today, we decided to meet up at a friend's place in Subang Jaya. A fee other gang member came along, it was a nice time talking about the old days .....

All the ingredients were fried first

Before they go into the rice with chicken to be cooked together

We were treated with cooking from one of the old buddy, an Arabic rice affair, which I better not attempt to spell. It went down really well. The original plan was for pot luck, but unfortunately, since we had a late night last night, Anita and the boys were still asleep when I left. No chance of preparing anything really. I decided in the end not to take them along, and have my friend from London drive me there. But in the end, there were plenty of food to eat. The chef however, turned late ...... as usual. Instead of brunch, we ended up having a late lunch.

And now, it was ready. Walla!

And the dessertIt was great to see how we evolved since we came back from the UK. But sufficed to say that our career path may have varied since it intentionally set out. It was great fun talking about our exploits when we were students. We talked about our time in Malaysia Hall, what I did when I was in London last week as well what we had been up to since returning. A few of them I have yet to meet after 10 years, at the very least.

Show Was Done

Both Idlan and Irfan had finished their performances. As mentioned on my Flickr and twitter feed, the stage was amazing and the shows were actually much better than it was last year at least.

Irfan went on first first, to perform a disco dance. Very cute. Idlan later did the twist. Both were smack in the middle, and now I understood why they were rather apprehensive this morning. They were both point of references. A tall order that.

Irfan's dance involved him prancing across the floor and prancing he did. Idlan's was a more subdued choreography, and he mainly stayed with the same partner, an Australian girl. He did not want to let her go in the end. Gosh!

I got my videos as well, and my God did I have to jostle for space. There were so many parents with cameras everywhere. It was rather easy for me as the two boys were right in the middle. So, now I was just waiting for Idlan to finish his snacks before we head home. Time to sort out the photos next.

Almost Starting

The plan to wake up extra early this morning was shattered with the fact that I decided to kill the alarm off. It was too cosy on the bed with the boys that I decided to delay. We ended getting out of bed after 8 which was actually a touch late. Well, we did go out for a nice dinner last night.

As you had guessed, it was our school concert this morning. The hall was in Sentul and despite setting off on tine, little that we expect q traffic jam at 10 in the morning. Well, I guessed anything was possible in KL. Got the driver to dropped us off, and Ee rushed up the stairs to get the boys to their teachers for last minute touch ups. Managed to get a nice seat, one which I can get up near the stage easy to get some videos. So, looking forward to that. And another thing. The VIP was late again ......

This is just too funny!

I was reading through the newspaper tonight after coming back from dinner, I came across the hot news of the day - Siti Nurhaliza and Ana Rafalli had joined the Territorial Army. Way to go! I was sure the Army could do with some injection of glamour couldn't they? Or certainly it could help.

I then went on the net and read this entry on Kak Fauziah's blog. I just couldn;t stop giggling. Do give her blog a read. The joke was practically writing itself!

Not that bad

I was actually bracing myself for a heavy clinic this morning. With the school holidays just passed - patients were known to skip or cancel appointment during that time to go on holidays - and I was away last week, I was expecting plenty of patients. I had only about 8 requests today and after seeing a few more from the common pool, I was done just after midday.

The fact that the tsunami of patients did not materialise did help, but it was more to do with the number of doctors available. We had all the lecturers in, including Habibah who is back from her maternity leave. We had a Final Year MO, plus 4 others to help out. In the end, we had about eleven Doctors running the clinic which was a rarity. So, I ended up taking extra time for lunch before going for Friday prayers - I usually had to rush through, and even on a few occasions, had to come back after prayers to finish the clinic.

It was left to do some paperwork and letters before I was off for the weekend. I gather that I had some errand to run for the school concert tomorrow. I would have plenty of time for that after work …..
