2011 Scott Kelby Photowalk, Part III

To finish things off, I thought I just publish the rest of the photos I took during the photowalk ..... There were tons of them.

Looked surprisingly similar to one Mona Fandey I thought ....The walk towards Bukit Nanas, passing a row of old shops. SOme of them were still opened, looking unchanged since the 60sThe Jalan Ampang end of Jalan HS Lee, where the Indian restaurants and shops were located. Some mean nasi daun pisang to be had here.A quite literal company logo ......Stop-over for lunch. Giving us ample opportunity to look at the shots so far.Shazni waiting for his order. How can one miss that bright orang shirt.Arrived at the end meeting point, where the camera deserved some well-deserved respite.Ripi, this year's walk organiser did a great job with the route.Fariz brought along his medium format camera. That managed a roll of eight shots.Fariz trying out the X100. On the pic was cousin Adi and Zol.

More Photos from The CM Walk

Well, I supposed a single entry was not really enough with the number of photos I took during the walk.

I knew it was worth preserving the past, but this building could do with a new coat of paint. The Medan Pasar clock tower, where the bus stops were. Such nice blue sky.Calling home maybe .... This area was a hotspot for the foreign workers during weekends.A ticket to ride. At least they were queueing up.Next turn was Masjid Jamek, where Sungai Gombak and Sungai Kelang met, giving the name Kuala Lumpur. Not really muddy nowadays.I ventured up towards Jalan HS Lee, before walking back towards Petaling Street. Rather than walking further, I decided to cut back as I had to attend my suster's party later that afternoon.

Dodgy dealings aplenty. Vendor selling their wares near Masjid Jamek.Looking up at Masjid Jamek. And looking on towards Menara Kuala Lumpur, rising up between the buildings flanking the streets. The old and the unkept. A real eyesore in the middle of town.I wouldn't mind this. With a new coat of paint, this could turn into a real charmer ....Colourful shop signs. Kind of my thing ....Hotel Winsin, near Petaling Street.Almost back to where I started ..... Central Market

That gave me the chance to explore Central Market in the morning, before the place got packed. A revelation as you would see in my next entry, and that would be after I load up more photos from this walk. I took too many photos I guessed, but that was just the power of the X100.

Please read other entries from this photowalk here.

The Fuji X100 is Here!

Yes! I have taken the plunge. I have been monitoring the reviews on this little beauty since the beginning of the year, and has set my sight as a replacement for my LX-3.

Many alternatives came and went. I tried the PEN-3, the GF3, and even the Leica X1. But there is something unique about the X100. It was solidly built, it has a large APS-C sensor. And the lens were super sharp. To top them all off, the leaf shutter and the range-finder style layout. I really couldn't ask for more.

I was close to plunging on the PEN, but at the end of the day, I would just stick the pancake lens on it. The X100 comes with a superb lens to start with. So the argument about needing a zoom did not come into the equation as far as I am concerned. I could still use my EOS 7D for the serious business if I needed to.

So, as soon as I got the unit, I took it out for a quick spin around Pavilion - where else. These were the results. All were from RAW files, with a bit of curve adjustment on Aperture. No sharpening or colour manipulation done. I also cropped them into 16:9 aspects, and added in the borders and watermark. This was from the first spin. Imagine how it would be once I become more familiar with it.

More photos could be seen on the slideshow here. There are also more photos in this post.
