The Morning Has Broken

So, it was finally the morning after. We hardly done any packing last night and the check-out time is 11 am. A long drive back to KL to follow. It had been a nice stay, though the boys as usual were wining a lot. As I mentioned, it would have been better if they had their friends or cousins with them. Maybe, that would be the plan for the future.

Their toys were still strewn all over the place. I had just woken up to stretch my legs. A quick shower coming up soon, followed by a quick walk to 7-Eleven to charge up my toll card for the drive to Tuas.

If everything goes according to plan, we would be leaving after breakfast - a late one as usual - then would be having lunch in Johor. Anita did mention about stopping at a designer outlet in Johor, but not sure if she has the energy - but you'd be surprised how women can always find energy to shop though.

So, finally, bye-bye Marina Bay Sands .....

Who Wants Pancake?

After we took turn having breakfast at the main cafe, it was the boys' turn to have some breakfast. What did they want? Pancakes.

And they were gorgeous. The maple syrup that went with them was just heavenly. And guess who finished them up in the end? Puan Anita ....

Another Free Morning for Breakfast

Well, you guessed it, I took the opportunity to have breakfast with Puan Anita again this morning. We again went to La Bodega, but this time, rather than the outlet at Telawi, we went to Bangsar Shopping Center.

The offer a similar menu, but the ambiance was completely different. The Telawi outlet were smack in the middle of a row of shoplot, giving it a more claustrophobic feeling. But the area was more opened and assessable as people would just park be the street and enter the restaurant.

Nice opened spaceMy rather too dry for comfort Egg BenedictThe BSC outlet was more of a proper cafe. The had two parts, an indoor shop - smaller - or the open space, where the smoking area was. More spacious, complete with sofas. I prefer these opened spaces, although I could do without people puffing about.

Personally, the service here at the BSC was a lot faster, but comparing the two outlet, the meals - or at least the breakfast - was tastier at Telawi. My egg Benedict was moist and the toast better prepared there. Coffee was similar. But that was nitpicking really. For sheer convenience, the BSC was probably better since there was ample car parking space as well as you were shielded from the elements. It would save some time as well, as usually we could do some groceries as well as visiting Anita's favourite food outlet, O'Gourmet.

At the end, it was down to personal preferences. There were really not much difference between the two outlet foodwise. I would choose depending on whether I had business to carry out near the two restaurants. But it was raining outside, I would definitely head for BSC for obvious reason.

La Bodega at BSC was located on the Ground Floor by the main entrance next to Chinoz.

Treated for Breakfast

As expected, I was asked to sleep in the study last night. Could not sleep well. Woke up at around 4 am, with a mega sore throat. Time for some drinks and a bit of painkiller. Switched on the TV, and caught the later parts of the England-Wales match. Dozed off to sleep with the TV on after that.

I felt much better when I woke up after the Subuh azan. Time to wake Anita and the boys up by then. After she sorted out the boys at school, we went out for a spot of breakfast. Anita had to buy some books in Bangsar, and she treated me with breakfast at La Bodega. Felt much better after the warm coffee and more medications.

Still cosy and quiet at this early hoursAnita and her order of drinks. Mango juice and English breakfast teaThe order of 'big breakfast' came with sausage, bacon, mushroom, baked beans and toast. You can then select how you like your eggs. The sauteed mushroom actually tasted a lot better than it looked.Yup! I was done!I must have eaten too much, and felt bloated after that. Well, you would expect that if you just took egg benedicts and other side orders wouldn't you? But that certainly cheered up my morning. Just returned from fetching Irfan from school. The myalgia was still there, but better. Time for some more medications and some reading. Found a few interesting article about the Putera UMNO mission to Somalia, the one which got the Bernama cameraman killed. Sounded like there were than met the eyes ….. and the plot thickened.

Breakfast at Harrod's

My brother-in-law just left for Turkmenistan again on Sunday morning, the day before Ramadhan started. It was not a disaster though as he should be back for Hari Raya, but it was sad nome the less. Therefore on Saturday morning, he took us and her parents put for breakfast. But this was not any ordinary breakfast. It was over at KLCC, at Harrod's.

I did not know that Harrod's do breakfast until I was told last week. They ha limited menu though - 7 items on my count between 10 to 11, and an even more limited selection between 8.30 to 10, mainly catering for Peteonas executives coming for power breakfast during weekdays.

My boys were grumpy, firstly since they were forced to get up and was hauled into the van - they were still on holidays. But, woke up they dis and try were initially in a merry mood in the van. But that would soon change after they learn that their usual order at Harrod's were missing. They loved their roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and fruit punch there. But at 10 in the morning, those were off the menu. And they were proper grumpy especially Idlan pulling a strop! That did not stop the rest of us though.

The grumpy boys grudgingly went up the escalatorsIdlan in a stropFinally agreed to play ball

So, what were the 7 items? Nope, no nasi lemak or roti canai. We had omelet, croissant, poached salmon and of course hot baguette. The usual British breakfast with sausages and eggs of course. Not to mention the glorious morning tea and coffee. The limited item meant that service was swift and as usual, the waitresses were very accommodating, especially with my boys in a strop.

The food was good, but personally, I prefer La Bodega, partly with it wider selection and lower prices, but also dare I say it, better food offering. The egg Benedict at La Bodega was bordering on "to die for", especially with a strip of smoked salmon on top. Here, even the omelet was surprisingly dry and bland. It was too British I supposed. The most disappointing was the sautéed mushroom. They could have done a lot better.

Some toast to start things offAnita's choiceMine was the omeletFinally content with his English Breakfast TeaThey were also offering special Ramadhan buffet - roast beef on Wednesdays ....

To be honest, I probably give the breakfast here a miss in the future. I definitely prefer the roti canai near my house, of should I feel adventurous, either La Bodega or Delicious. But for lunch and dinner, I would definitely return.
