Planting Time

Anita and the boys had a trip up Cameron Highlands while I was in Atlanta. Over there, Irfan bought some seeds and wanted to try his hand at planting them. Maybe inspired by the fauna up in the mountains. They had a visit to a tea farm among others but Cameron Highlands was too crowded in these school holidays and they ended up either holed up in the hotel or stuck in a traffic queue.

At least the hotel Anita chose seemed to be a good one as the boys enjoyed it. And the food was good.

The first thing that Irfan asked me to do when I arrived at home from the airport was to help him plant the seeds. We finished things off the same afternoon, and after a week, a few sprout was seen. He seemed to have forgotten to water them after a couple of days …..

Full Day

An exhaustive afternoon actually. The initial plan was to head to Puteri Harbour to see what the indoor theme park had to offer. But we had a stop on the way. We were just curious about a public park we saw on the way to Legoland yesterday, called Taman Merdeka. More about that later.

We ended up arriving at Puteri Harbour by 3, and after fretting about where to park - the parking area was quite well away from the theme park. Puteri Harbour was still in development and not all the attractions were opened yet. In fact, only the theme park was really operational. Even Lat's Place, another attraction was still closed.

Actually, we enjoyed Puteri Harbour more than Legoland to be quite honest. And I would blog about that in length a bit later on. We finally reached the hotel after six, and starving. A quick trip to the lounge and the boys were happy. What's next? Swimming. At 7 pm? Gosh!

Wii U

Over the years, the only game console we had in our household was the Nintendo Wii. We had PSP and iPads of course, but we were talking consoles here. We never bothered with PlayStation, but we loved our Wii. When I was in the US, the Wii U was released, but I want sure if the games and consoles were compatible in Malaysia. So, I gave it a pass.

But when I found a unit being sold during our trip to Plaza Damas, I just couldn't say no. We went straight to buy it.

It wasn't a local unit, so, it needed a step down voltage unit. I was pretty sure it was a North America set from the voltage setting, but it worked fine. The Wii U was definitely an upgrade from the Wii. The graphic was better, the games were more sophisticated. It can still play the original Wii games and some of the peripherals were still compatible.

The console also came with a small handheld display unit called the Gamepad. It connects seamlessly with the console via Bluetooth, and it required a separate charger. So, I had to get a couple of step down transformers to play the game.

I bought the black 32GB unit, which came with a game called Nintendoland, which showcases what the Wii U can offer in terms of gameplay. I also bought a couple of extra games for the boys.

After playing for a couple of times, the unit appeared more responsive, but I just wished that we had a bigger TV. The one we used for games was an old CRT TV. It was good enough, but not HD! The sound was also pretty basic from our setup. I was sure we were yet to explore then full potential of the Wii U. At this time, the games were still limited.

But from what I explored so far, it certainly retained the same charm as the original Wii. If you loved the Wii as a casual gamer like us, I was sure you would love the Wii U. Adventure time!!!!!

Swimming Time Again

It was a surprising sunny afternoon today. All morning it had been threatening to rain. It sis rain in Bangsar during lunchtime, but that soon evaporated, revealing a clear sky. Which was good since the boys had their swimming lesson at 4. I joined them later after having a couple of hours to myself at the apartment. Compared to last week's it seemed that the bonus, Irfan especially was enjoying it a bit more.

There was a function at the terrace near the pool today, so, the boys did not manage to run around too much. They might miss next weekend's lesson as well since they had a birthday party to attend and I had to travel to Must forms cousin's wedding. So boys, enjoy it while you could ......

The Mess Had Started

We hardly been to the apartment for a couple of hours, and the messing up had already started. Initially in their games room, but Idlan was afraid of staying alone. He therefore dustily brought the whole to the lounge, and it would be a headache getting it all tidied up later.

We decided to leave it be overnight. The maid would be coming to the apartment tomorrow - she was given a day off yesterday instead of on Sunday. She stayed with her sister in town overnight.

Leave the mess be I should say. And let plan on what to do on Saturday afternoon after I had done my clinic. Hopefully no rain ….. one can only wish. Happy Saturday all!
