An Evening Stroll

After a long day at Gurney Plaza, the boys were hungry by the time we touched down. We decided against ordering in since the menu was pretty limited. We went for dinner buffet at Sarkies instead.

The boys were charged at half price and on the whole considering the quality of the food on the spread, it was well worth it.

It had the usual Malaysian food, plus roast, salad, seafood including oyster - which I was not into, sashimi - my favourite, and some local delicacies including some flaming char kuey teow, which was the bomb!

The previous evening, there was roast lamb on the skewer, but not tonight. They had satay instead and it was really nice as well. The hidden gem was the chicken curry. Almost as good as the nasi kandar outlet to be honest. They really knew how to cook here, that was for certain!

Since both Anita and I overindulged, we had to take a walk. In the sea breeze towards the room, it was a really nice walk. The air was fresh. Shame that Irfan couldn't wait to get into the room. We could have done with another hour or so at the sofa by the lobby .....

I Need Sleep

I was already fast asleep in the car on the way back from dinner last night. I was that tired, having had to return to the hospital on Thursday after work. One of the patient became ill plus a new admission. I ended up sorting things out well past midnight. Rather than return to Gombak, I spent the evening at the apartment instead.

Hardly had much sleep, followed by a busy day at work, I was zoned out by the time I reached home last night.

Luckily Anita had planned dinner and got the driver to take us around as I was too tired to drive then. The next thing I remembered was waking up on the couch at 2 in the morning.

I then staggered bed into bed, and woke up refreshed in time to drive to work this morning. So, clinic was sorted out, and it was time now for lunch. A quick detour to Bangsar, then the apartment before joining the boys and Anita later during their swimming class. That was what Saturday going to be like. I hope.

More jalan-jalan

I was taken to dinner again tonight after another long day. This time it we went to Arab Street for some Peranakan food. The venue was authentic enough but the food wasn't. It was more South Thai and Indonesian than Straits Chinese. But it was still very nice food. Can't really complaint.

The restaurant was located by Kandahar Street, where the Indian Moslem community congregate. I performed the Maghrib Solat by the Mosque there, while enjoying the bright moon. Apparently, that was the nearest the Moon going to be to Earth for the last 20 years it certainly was very bright.

The old Malay Istana. Now a museum. After the wholesome dinner, we took a stroll by Bugis Street some 10 minutes away. There was a lively night market there, and the place was packed even though it was past 9pm. Our host wanted us to try dome reflexology, but according to others, it was not a good idea to do so right after a meal.

Apart from the family-friendly stalls along the walk, there were also sex toy shops and other fun stuffs can be seen there. The nearby shopping complexes were still opened. At that hour, I did not really fancy doing any shopping.

On the way back to the hotel, we were driven by the Marina, where the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands were located. We did not stop however, but I managed to snap a couple of frames of the landmark. We reached the hotel by 10.30, just in time to pack, hit the shower and get ready to snuggle in bed to watch the ManYoo match for the week. We would be playing Bolton. A bit of a bogey team actually.

Trendy Cow!

Moooo!I will be off Saturday - today. Taking Monday off as well, so it will be 4 straight days - woot! Even though I got the feeling that I will have to turn up at the ward on Monday morning to sort something out. Today, after berbuka, I thought I bring the troops out. The boys wanted Marche, so off we went to The Curve. It was a public holiday in Selangor - Nuzul Quran, so the traffic was light coming in, although the car park was packed.

I blogged about the lobby decoration in an earlier entry, but since Idlan was not with us then, he got excited with the kampung house, and was keen to visit our house in Kuala Kangsar during Raya. Hmm! Not a bad idea actually. After a few minutes walking around, we settled for Marche. Unfortunately in the evenings during Ramadhan, they only offered buffet. The boys insisted on pizza. We had a look around and the waiter at Marche suggested that we try Italiannies, just a few doors away. The boys noticed that the Marche bull at the front of the store was decked up with Jalur Gemilang and songkok. Cool!

Decor at the Curve

Italiannies was rather packed even late on in the evening, after the berbuka puasa crowd has left. Since I already had dinner, I decided to just try the salad and desserts. I was so surprised at how fast the service was. As soon as we settled in, we got the bread ready, followed by the salad Puan Anita ordered. My bruchetta came a few minutes after, with the drinks. The pizza came last, and oh boy, did he boys love it. Puan Anita then had creme brule while I tucked into my bread pudding. The portion was huge, so I had to take home half of it - consistent with its slogan, “so much, so good, so share”. The ambiance was nice, complete with a loud Italian family sitting on the next table - I was not joking, they happened to be customers as well. You can’t get any more authentic than that. I was worried that they will start a song anytime soon. The waiters were also very friendly, speaks very good English - mostly Filipinos I think.

Welcoming sign outsideCozyBread and virgin olive oil - nice!BruchettaFor the drinks, I had a mocktail which was really nice. Well, any drinks would have been nice after fasting a whole day. We had a nice time. The boys enjoyed their pizza. After dinner, we had a nice stroll before heading to the car park. We finally made it home close to 11pm.

Pudding to finish things offTime to goWill I recommend Italiannies? Most definitely. I would have preferred to comment more if I had had a main course but from what I sampled, the food there was really nice. In terms of price, it was comparable to similar joints such as Marche and Apartment. I will definitely return again in the future.
