Firmware Time

This entry was originally written in September 2016

The drone had been dormant for almost a month. A new firmware had arrived and since I planned to take the drone up Fraser's Hill, I might as well get things up to date, in fear of not able to fly at the venue.

I decided to use the MacBook to download the software and connect the drone directly after. Alternatively, I could use the DJI Go software on my iPad for the update but the update through the computer was more straightforward and made more sense.

Back to Jump Street

Idlan had been nagging me for quite some time to take him to Jump Street. The last time we visited this trampoline park was almost a year ago. It had been a while but I must say that I picked a wrong day to go there. The place was packed with children enjoying their school holiday.

Far too crowdedWhere to go first?I was surprised that the owner actually let in such a big crowd, as we actually checked for teh ticket availability on line a couple of days before. Se assumed that there would be a control in terms of number of people being let in on each of their hourly slots. Obviously the system wasn't working and Idlan ended up only managing about 10 minutes on the trampoline and 3 minutes in the dodgeball court in the whole couple of hours that we paid for.

Not much changed outside ....Except for the lack of car parking spaceLet's queue first ....Before we start bouncingBefore we play a bit of dodgeball ....And there was also a matter of car parking arrangements - or the lack of it. We ended up parking across the road, but since we came in a group, I just dropped Anita and the boys by the entrance before circling around to look for a spot to park. I saw many families with small children having to cross the road to get to the entrance from where they parked. Most of the spots that thye had previously was given away to another company which occupied the building in front of the the facilities.

Not such a clever idea.

Start of a Long Weekend

It was rare for me to not be on call during a long holiday weekend and I was looking forward to some time spent at home doing basically not much ...

But I had to start on a post-call day though, with the boys dragging me out for groceries - read junk food - shopping. I decided to let Anita take care of that while I took some time at a cafe having a quiet cup of coffee. It went smoothly and I managed to have a quiet night after that followed by a leisurely breakfast on Sunday morning.

The weather wasn't exactly inspiringI couldn't really remember what I did on the Sunday but it mainly involved taking a rest followed by watching football later that evening. Come Monday, we decided to spend some time at Jump Street - a trampoline park in PJ - followed by a nice lunch.

All in all, I managed to spend some time at home with the boys followed by some rest.

Of course we had a swim regardless of the weatherI will be working through Xmas and the New Year I was afraid, only taking a few day break on the second week of January. Best to enjoy the time off while I can.

School Closing

Xmas was coming. Irfan's school had closed a week ago, and it would be another week to go before Idlan enjoy his Xmas break. The end of the year included the obligatory prize-giving - cue Irfan and his scrolls. Irfan changed school but his name was called up for UPSR award. He was not there however to pick up his prize. Anita went up instead.

So, while Idlan had to get up early to catch his morning bus ride, Irfan was still fast asleep ....

Another week and both could have a lie-in in the morning ....

Today's Menu

With her Mum staying over at our apartment while recovering from her angiogram, Anita had been busy planning her meals. For Sunday, her Dad and brother would be coming over to join us for lunch and Anita spent the morning planning what to cook.

By the time I was done with my rounds - I was on call that day as well - they had already eaten. It was crab curry and there were still plenty left for me. Oh the joy of preparation …. I could only admire the coordination.
