The Haze is Back

We had managed to avoid the dreaded haze for the past year. But during the time, we had to cope with some really dry weather, not to mention the water shortage and all.

But now, the haze was back. The smell, although not overpowering was definitely back. This surely would put a downer to the proceeding this weekend with the Merdeka celebration as well as the planned Bersih march.

A clear morning ...This was from last ThursdayHopefully rain would come soon and wash away the haze before my kids started coughing ....

Haze in an Empty City

https://www.flickr.com/photos/harisrahman/14587052618/

The City dwellers were still away. Might as well as overnight, the air quality plummeted. Visibility was down to less than 200m despite the City being almost devoid of its usual traffic.

Not a good idea for outdoor activities. At least that was what I told myself when I got up this morning and was too lazy to have my morning jog.

Now praying that it would rain, washing the haze particles away ....

The Sky is Blue

The haze which threatened to come looked to have dissipated somewhat, but the heat was still felt. A welcomed changed as I could really smelled the fumes in the air last Monday.

But the relief was thought to be short-lived. With the hot weather predicted during the Ramadan, it might return.

Let's pray that that would be later rather than soon. ‎

Walk in the Haze

It was time for my afternoon photo walk but shane that it had to be in the haze this time around. It wasn't as bad as earlier in the week, but it was pretty obvious nearing sun down. The smell was also there.

The children stayed in as expected playing their PC. I didn't want to bring them out in the haze anyhow. So, it was me and Puan Anita in the end, enjoying a stroll and a bit of shopping. While she shopped, I ventures on towards Low Yat just soaking in what was on show.

Nothing new. I wanted to have a look at the new Panasonic GM1, the compact camera. Smaller than the Sony RX100 but with a bigger sensor. A truly pocketable which I had been looking for. But event conspired against me.

I also dropped by Parkamaya for a quick look. My cousin launched a clothing outlet there earlier in the day, but I was late to the launch. I just dropped by to say hi and wished them good luck.

The theme at Pavilion today was World Women's Day. But there were not much in terms of organised event going on. The central foyer was filled with handbags - not sure but that may be a celebration in itself. But what ever happiness and joy today was hampered by the news of the missing #MH370. The authorities were still trying thieve together what exactly went on. And the natives, both local and abroad were vetoing restless. Speculations afloat at the minute and my thoughts were with the family members as hope were fading.

I will blog about Tokyo Street later as the place seemed shave lost its charm as far as I was concerned.

Air Quality

Hopefully the air quality would improve as we approach the weekend. It was atrocious earlier in the week, with Idlan being one of the sufferer. He was close to needing nebulisers on Wednesday.

We could hardly see the skyline then, but from yesterday, it was becoming clearer. I could see KLCC from the highway as I was driving in - in the traffic jam obviously.

It was hazy even first thing in the morningFrom earlier in the week, after duskHopefully with that, I could take my camera for a spin. I was still getting acquainted to the XT-1, the latest addition to the family. So, watch this space …
