Better Today?

Was it any better today compared to the day before? Well, the visibility was almost the same, but the pungent smell that was driving me dizzy the day before was gone. The air was now more bearable.

Can't really see the sun in the morningNotice at Bangsar VIllage IISunlight finally breaking through by the afternoonThe boys' school were still closed, so I actually joined them for lunch at Bangsar this afternoon. I was late though but luckily managed to get a parking spot still. Even though the normal schools were already opened, I spot many school children around with their parents during lunch. It was very likely that the parents took the day off anticipating school to be closed, and it was opened instead, they might as well made the day out of it. The air was still unhealthy to be quite honest. School being opened also meant heavy traffic in the morning.

It started to become cloudy - not that I realised it - come late afternoon and before ling, I could see thunder and lightning in the horizon. Rain was coming. The bad thing was, it inky lasted about ten minutes. It wasn't enough to wash the haze away ....

Hopefully tomorrow would be better .....

Not The Haze Again

The forecast looked ate grim as more haze would lend in Semenanjung from the neighbouring Sumatera by the end of the week. I knew the boys would be suffering, and even Anita had been having the sniffles and had gone back to her inhalers. The last time we had a bad bout of haze in KL, she had to go on steroids due to bronchospasm. Hopefully it wouldn't be that bad this time around.

That would really put a dampener on the coming festivities, as I was expecting KL would be empty again with the city dwellers leaving for their respective kampungs. We would be celebrating in KL this time around, with my parents staying around, and Julia only going back to Melaka on the second day of Raya. We would sure be hanging around at their place for the day.

Hazy Days Looming?

Was that the haze again? Weather had been better in the last couple of days - I meant no thunderstorm in the late afternoons. That I guessed brought another problem, the haze.

I noticed it on the way to work this morning but by midday, it was much better. Much better in the sense I was able to enjoy the glorious sunshine on my drive home from work. I hope that the haze would stay away, not to trigger the boy's asthma, with the school holidays and all ....

Gorgeous Blue Sky

I woke up this morning with a bad throat, temperature and body ache. I tried to call for my wife and then I realised that I had no voice. Had a couple of sprays on my throat, the pain was a bit better and the voice was slowly coming back. Reciting the advice from my ENT friend, the worst thing I could do was to whisper. That would cause more strain on my voicebox.

The clinic this morning would be a monster since one of my colleague was away in Kelang, another involved in exams and a few of my MOs were either on leave or ill. My ENT friend told me to take the day off, but looking at the clinic and also the Nurses Day lunch, I think I'd better turn up, at least until lunch.

Rather than driving in myself, I was driven in by our driver to work today - in glorious sunshine. The heavy rain overnight certainly lifted the haze somewhat, but I was not optimistic that it would last that long.

P/S: I would highly recommend hiring a driver if you can afford one. Being driven into work in heavy traffic while being able to surf the net and tweet, plus updating the blog was sheer bliss!

The Haze is Back

I was giving a talk to a group of Pharmaceuticals exec this morning, and it was almost at the top of KL. On the 58th floor of Intermark building, off Jalan Tun Razak, and from that vantage point, the haze was clearly visible. Shame that I did not snap any pics from there. Mind you I had a heavy cold and was not quite myself.

Clear skies as of yesterday .... but not today sadlyIt looks like the admission rate from asthma will go through the roof in the coming weeks. At least my boys' fever had subsided, but the worry was their asthma night come to haunt us. So no outing this weekend as far as the parks were concerned. A good bet we night be easing to Port Dickson for the weekend if the haze turned bad.
