School Almost Out

Finally, the end-of-year exams for my boys were done with. They were now looking forward to the holiday break - it wouldn't start for another 2 weeks though. Yesterday was Idlan's final paper. There was a class party organised for this morning but from what you could see, getting them out of bed was a right challenge.

There is no school today, Idlan said. Do I have to go to school? Well, there would be no class. Just party and it should be fun. We would be spending the weekend - and the whole of next week - at the apartment. We had still yet to pack, and I would be back from work before I start packing my documents and gadgets. Not sure what time tonight before we would be settled in.

The boys were really looking forward to the stay. I was happy as well, although it would not effect my travel time as much as with the school holidays starting next week, expected the traffic would be light. But the short drive would always be a welcome. I would also be on call on this coming Sunday and Tuesday. Should be a busy week.

Day Two

A drab day in all honesty. It was dull in the morning, and it started to pour come lunchtime. My mother-in-law were driven out for lunch by my brother, and they were stuck halfway up Genting Highland. In earnest, it would be a bad idea to drive out of town today.

We drove over to 1Utama for lunch, but had to turn back as there were no parking space left. We ended up having lunch at Bangsar instead. Pizza for the boys of course, even though both of them looked tired after the outing yesterday. Idlan woke up with a sore throat, and he was still tired after lunch. We cut our outing short after he started sneezing.

Traffic in KL was OK, even in the heavy rain. I would imagine the town would be empty for the next few days, and would only start to pick up by the weekend. The weekend would be madness as most people would be traveling back into KL, as well going around for the inevitable "Rumah Terbuka". Not looking forward to that!

More photos of the Smokehouse

As you can see from the photos, the main hangout was the main lounge where it was nice and cosy. It was the place where we had our hot chocolate in the vending as well as watching a quick TV. The Wifi signal was also pretty strong there. I loved it the most when it was raining outside, with the windows opened.

This was actually the patio between the main house and the annexYou heard it ....The main lounge, but the fireplace was not on except in DecemberChatting with one of the staffsWhat's on the menu? The cosy dining areaOn our last visit, the fire was on, making the whole lounge nice and hot. They only put the fireplace up during December, around Christmas. Appropriate I thought. When it was warm, it was really hard to leave the lounge to head back to the rooms .....

Back to Work

I must say that by the time I started my clinic yesterday afternoon, I was close to having a hypo. It was the first day back after a week away, and even waking up yesterday morning after sahur was a drag. I finally muster my energy to get up, and was stuck in a huge traffic jam entering Subang Jaya. Not a great start.

The afternoon clinic was also busier than I expected. But managed to get through in one piece. So, the second day today was not as bad, although I only have a morning clinic, and it was a short one. I spent the afternoon at my apartment, and will only return for the afternoon ward round at around 3 pm. Just a couple of patients to review before calling it the day hopefully.

A quick phone call back home, and Puan Anita and the boys were already out to do some groceries. Anita was really keen to get her Raya shopping done early to avoid the late rush. So, last night, we went out to our usual card shop at IKANO to get some Raya greetings card and duit Raya pouches sorted out. More about that later.

Settling In

We finally settled into our hotel for the weekend after a rough drive up the hill. A fully loaded Estima with a couple of screaming kids at the back! By the time we reached the top, both of them were fast asleep, which was a blessing. But unfortunately, they mustered the energy to cause havoc all night!

Dinner was nice - we had it at the hotel. But compared to what it was a couple of years ago, it was much better back then. The rooms at Ye Olde Smokehouse had gone some internal renovations, sim pretty much of the utilities were new. We booked a room with a bunker bed - and I think you'd figured out by now who would be using that. It was a nice cosy suite, right net to the main hall. So going for dinner and breakfast was just practically outside our door.

As the hotel just managed to sort out the wifi, I only just managed to blog. The Edge signals were pretty sketchy, so, I would be at the mercy of the wifi network. Will blog later ....
