Cafe by the Exit

We were done with the flowers and the children had had a field day getting us to by them toys. Next came a bit of respite before the drive home. Great timing as there was a nice little cafe right by the exit.

Ice creams and drinks this time around.

But what caught my eyes were the cute decorations and the furnitures. The theme for the decorations were butterflies, while the furnitures were made from recycled oil drums, painted and turned into chairs and tables. Very neat.

And that came during the time when the national news were dominated by oil drums. One of the Government prosecutor was abducted and his remains was found in an oil drum encased in cement! Gruesome stuff!

After the ice cream was done, it was time to head back to reality. And reality was only a 45-minutes drive away ...

Minus 9

In the hot weather, I couldn't help but notice the ice cream stalls at the roadside. Yesterday, I tried a stall by the lake. Italian ice cream were mainly thick yoghurt called gelato. These ones were super thick and taste like the real flavour they were made from. Basically the strawberry gelato taste like you were actually eating strawberry. And I had some coffee flavour, and it cane with coffee beans in the mix. They were that authentic.

I shared the experience with some of my colleagues, and they pointed me out to shop in the middle of town which allegedly serve the best gelato. It was called Minus 9 (-9).

The gelato kiosk I visited the day beforeIt certainly lived up to its billing and then some more. I purposely ordered the coffee flavour, and my God, did it taste like coffee. Costwise, it wasn't that expensive. Possibly cheaper than Haagen-Dasz back home. They even had exotic - to them - flavours such as pineapple and coconuts. No green teai. Yet.

I would definitely have to sneak back there once more before I return back home. The gelato stalls in KL had no chance against these guys ....

Screaming for Ice Cream

The day went on a lot better than expected although Anita had to take Irfan for his follow-up at Pantai on her own - with her Mum on tow, leaving Idlan at home to look after me. Tussles throat was down a notch and as of this morning, the temperature stayed below 38 degrees until now. The myalgia was now bearable although taking a cold shower was a struggle - that happens to me even without the fever.

This cut down on the cough big timeCome afternoon, the only thing left was the annoying sore throat, which following the theme of following advice from my patients, one of them suggested cold yoghurt or ice cream. So ice cream was worth a shot. Anita got me one of those pure dairy, yoghurt, healthy eating type thing, and it went down really, really well. Anita insisted that I should not take too much as it may make the throat dry. So, I had some pancake to go along with it, followed by some plain warm water. It seemed to be doing it's job for now!
