Kenduri at FRIM

The last time we went to FRIM was during the Raya break last year. The canopy walk was closed, and we ended up walking up the hill on a trek with the boys looking for some wild bugs.

Yesterday was the second time we were there, and it was to attend wedding of a cousin. It was held at the Auditorium, and to be honest, I didn't realise that there was enough space.

I have to say that the actual place was not really designed for such an occasion but it had enough if everything. And certainly it was a change from the usual kenduri venue. Quite creative really.

So, we got to meet relatives coming all the way from Penang and Kedah which we haven't met for years. It was also the first outing for my Mum since her heart scare. She was really happy to meet with her friends and other relatives. We on the other hand decided against bringing Idlan and Irfan. They would just moan and groan if they were there.

Aqiqah at PJ

Being on call today did not stop me from attending Dina's child's aqiqah, although we arrived fashionably late, just in time for the food. Actually, I arrived earlier than Anita as the venue was actually only 10 minutes away from the hospital. Managed to get there right after my first couple of admissions.

Anita was still feeling under the weather and she had to go straight home after lunch, while I went back to the hospital for yet another admission before returning to the apartment. The apartment sure looked rather big when it was empty …..

The Kenduri

The kenduri started at 11 and I went to the caterers with my Mum to bring back some food. For the in-law's place, Anita went with one of the drivers.

The good thing about the caterer we had been using was they were very efficient. My Mum introduced it to me. In fact, they were the caterer for my wedding 15 years ago. And until today, they were still the first choice for us.

Not only that they were reliable, the food were also very good. They would usually send the food over, with a couple of waiters and utensils. They also did canopies. But since it was Raya today, we just ordered the food.

Not all the guests could make it though - mainly family from my Mum-in-law were invited. This being a Friday had a lot to do with it.

Anyhow, we made the best out of whoever that came. It went OK, with plenty of the neighbours able to come. I just came back from the Friday prayers and was enjoying the drinks. It turned out to be a really hot day.

A Quick Lunch

I cancelled the afternoon clinic and raced through the morning. Saw all my referrals and put aside time in the afternoon for procedures. Somehow, I was free by noon and got a phone call from Anita. She was doing some shopping for Raya in Bangsar.

I decided to join her for lunch.

The traffic had been light all morning since school was already off. And plenty of people had left town for the long weekend. Even though I overslept this morning, I still made it in plenty of time to work this morning. The road was practically empty.

So getting to Bangsar was super quick even during lunch time.

We had a nice meal at Chinoz. Just the two of us. The groceries were for tomorrow's kenduri that we planned. Although most of the meal would be from the caterers, Anita wanted to cook some spaghetti. She also bought some cakes and drinks.

The kenduri tomorrow would be for neighbours and relatives. It was a "kenduri syukur" - Thanksgiving - after the recent illness. I will be off tomorrow, but would be back to do the rounds on Saturday morning. The Saturday clinic had been cancelled though. So just the ward rounds.

Looking forward to the day off and kenduri tomorrow. I heard that it was going to be a wet one .....

The Kenduri

We spent the evening doing some shopping for the kenduri tomorrow. Through to form, my Mum roped in Anita to organise the kenduri and doa for Irfan's circumcision. It would take place tomorrow afternoon at my Mum's place in Bukit Antarabangsa.

Anita brought Irfan to see our usual Paediatrician at Pantai Bangsar - right next to the apartment - concerned with his persistent cough. Nothing major. He just needed some inhalers. He was much better today. During the visit, the Paediatrician told Irfan why he needed the circumcision, and since then, Irfan was looking forward to it. That would be on Wednesday.

After groceries we're done, we brought the boys to my Mum's for dinner and Anita cooked the spaghetti for the children for tomorrow's kenduri. The rest would be catered for. My Aunt from Sungai Petani had also just arrived. It should be a nice kenduri tomorrow. And I hope that the weather would hold up ...

We were looking forward to bed now. It had been a long and tiring day especially for Anita.
