Lantern at KLCC

It was a Xmas tree barely a couple of weeks ago, and now the same spot was occupied by a tall column of lantern. I guess they saved a fair bit on the foundation and just switch the decor from one to another. But it worked.

After hearing about it from friends, I decided to have a look. And I got there just after Maghrib when the lights were about to be turned on with a hint of the blue hour still lingering.

It was actually rather nice. And there were plenty of people around there, surprisingly the majority being Arabs. There were throng of them there, all anticipating the fountains and their dancing water sprouts to be turned on.

The interior of Suria KLCC was rather more conventional with a big stage in the middle of the foyer with a few stalls littered around. No doubt there would be shows on the stage. There were nothing much going on there yesterday evening. Pretty average compared to other places I would've thought.

Mooncakes and Lanterns

I didn't have much chance to explore. But at the same time, I must say there had not been much hype about the lantern festival this season. Maybe it was the refllection of the state of the economy, and it may also be that with the Bersih and the “Red Shirt” rally, there is a bit of tension running around.

So, I only managed to catch one at Pavilion last weekend. Pretty straight forward, with mainly stalls selling novelty mooncakes from a host of local hotels and restaurants. We didn't catch any events at the time I was visiting, but there were plenty of people around browsing.

A group of my friends may be planning to hit Petaling Street this coming weekend - haze permitting. We night catch more fancy lanterns there then ….

Lantern at Fahrenheit

As I walk towards Bukit Bintang from where I parked last Monday morning, I caught this exhibition at Fahrenheit 88 just across the road. Good thing I got my GR with me and got snapping away. They were holding a lantern festival there showcasing some work both local and from Taiwan.

Some really neat work there and definitely was a spectacle.

Since it was Monday, the crowd was pretty thin making taking photos unobtrusive. 20 minutes passed while I was exploring the place. Better rush through to settle my bill and have a quick lunch. I have a clinic later that afternoon.
