That Giant Ketupat

Suria KLCC had always use the area just by the fountain entrance to erect monuments. It ranged from Xmas tree to giant lantern for Chinese New Year. This time around for Aidilfitri, it was almost the same as last year, a giant ketupat!

Not exactly original but there you have it.

At the central foyer, there had a stage and a stalls, all around an old kampung house. There was a traditional troupe playing when I visited, popular with the tourist.

As usual, we are obsessed with building tall structures and breaking records. The tall ketupat was recorded as the tallest ever built in Malaysia, with a sign proclaiming so ...

CNY at Suria

The central foyer was packed with decorations. The main stage already taken up half the space while the stalls made walking around rather tricky especially when tourists with selfie sticks came into the equation.

Entering from the fountain

Plenty to see. A kind of mini-BTS type of decorations. A bit of everything but not amounting to much. The area by the big fountain - as customary - had a big tower erected. Hampered by the fact that this would be the Year of the Dog, the mall couldn't erect anything with canine features - for political correctness and reflecting our collective social immaturity really.

The stalls were pretty standard as well. Some jewellery, perfumes, cookies and clothes. They could do without those pop-up stalls actually. Maybe the income from it is inputs rant for the mall.

Quite festive with the loud music and all that. But I couldn't hang around for long. There were plenty needed to be done for the rest of the outing ...

Missing the M

Over the last few months, I have been neglecting my Leica M. Maybe I was so used to the autofocus on my Sony and Fuji, as well as my exploration of wide angle snaps. The M 240 had been in my dry cabinet for far too long and last weekend, I decided to take it out for a spin.

Wow! Was I missing a lot. Coupled with the Summilux-35, you could tell where the charm lies. The crisp RAW files coming out from the camera as well as that instant snap you get off the lens could not be replicated by other set up.

Should I have more free time in the coming weeks, I would definitely be taking it for more spins ...

Lantern at KLCC

It was a Xmas tree barely a couple of weeks ago, and now the same spot was occupied by a tall column of lantern. I guess they saved a fair bit on the foundation and just switch the decor from one to another. But it worked.

After hearing about it from friends, I decided to have a look. And I got there just after Maghrib when the lights were about to be turned on with a hint of the blue hour still lingering.

It was actually rather nice. And there were plenty of people around there, surprisingly the majority being Arabs. There were throng of them there, all anticipating the fountains and their dancing water sprouts to be turned on.

The interior of Suria KLCC was rather more conventional with a big stage in the middle of the foyer with a few stalls littered around. No doubt there would be shows on the stage. There were nothing much going on there yesterday evening. Pretty average compared to other places I would've thought.

Blue Sky

It was one of those rare mornings, which combined great sunny weather and me being on leave. After sitting out my errands all in the morning, I should have myself a free afternoon.

Maybe I should take my camera out and venture around Bukit Bintang or Pasar Seni. Hopefully it was not too sunny....
