Starving Saturday

We just realised that the gas bill was overdue at the apartment. That just demonstrates how underutilized the place was. So, no cooking then at the kitchen. The microwave and induction hobs were still working, so, hope was not completely lost.

Being Saturday, there was no chance of getting the service resumed. So, it looked like we would be without gas for the next few days. Sigh!

And as Anita and the boys had to wait for me to finish my clinic, all I us were starving come the afternoon. Surprisingly, the traffic into town was pretty light. We headed out to Pavilion, and ordered some tandoori. It had been a while since I had some. Let's hope that that did the job. We had to find some take-outs for tonight as well ....

Lunch with Anita

Wednesday was usually a free morning for me. So, after spring out some stuff at the ward, and finished a meeting, it was time to head into town. I needed to pick up my passport - freshly printed with the US visa - at the Wisma MCA.

Anita and Irfan would then join me at Suria for lunch. I parked the car at Suria, and walked across to pick up my passport. That took only 10 minutes although entering the place was a bit on the scary side security-wise. I had to register at the entrance, took the lift up to the 19th floor, had a metal-detector subjected to my body, before picking up my visa.

By the time I was done, Anita was waiting for me at Suria. We had lunch at Yuzu, which is a rate occasions for us. Even though I have free mornings - which would stop next month with the opening of SDMC Desa ParkCity - it was seldom that I get to meet Anita. She was always busy with the children.

I finally had to leave for the afternoon clinic after a hearty lunch ....

Sunday at B.I.G.

The B.I.G. - Ben's Independent Grocer - at Solaris Dutamas was an imposing store at so many level. It was located on the Lower Ground, and one could never miss it.

We could spend the whole afternoon at the place alone. There were rows of groceries, plus a couple of nice cafe to sit at to pass the time - code for husbands to sit down while the wives were doing the shopping.

We sat down at the cafe yesterday to have lunch. The food was OK. The lasagna and pizza were great, but the salad not really. In fact it was rather disappointing. It was meant to be a Mediterranean el fresco twist to it, but fallen miserably short.

Sitting for lunchThe salad was not really nice at allThe lasagna however was superbLet's ask what Irfan thought of the pizza .... self explanatory ........ and the mocha was not badAfter lunch, my boys went berserk at the grocers. Especially the more domesticated Irfan. He kept piling up the baskets with all sorts of food. Idlan couldn't care less. Everything was clearly and well laid out. And the other plus about the place was the majority of the staffs there were locals. Communications was easy. The butcher however was Australian .... which was a bit strange.

I wonder what that big "B" was doing in the middle of the aisleDefinitely a place to visit. A nice place to spend Sunday lunch, if you have some groceries to do.

A Quick Lunch

I cancelled the afternoon clinic and raced through the morning. Saw all my referrals and put aside time in the afternoon for procedures. Somehow, I was free by noon and got a phone call from Anita. She was doing some shopping for Raya in Bangsar.

I decided to join her for lunch.

The traffic had been light all morning since school was already off. And plenty of people had left town for the long weekend. Even though I overslept this morning, I still made it in plenty of time to work this morning. The road was practically empty.

So getting to Bangsar was super quick even during lunch time.

We had a nice meal at Chinoz. Just the two of us. The groceries were for tomorrow's kenduri that we planned. Although most of the meal would be from the caterers, Anita wanted to cook some spaghetti. She also bought some cakes and drinks.

The kenduri tomorrow would be for neighbours and relatives. It was a "kenduri syukur" - Thanksgiving - after the recent illness. I will be off tomorrow, but would be back to do the rounds on Saturday morning. The Saturday clinic had been cancelled though. So just the ward rounds.

Looking forward to the day off and kenduri tomorrow. I heard that it was going to be a wet one .....

He Needs His Haircut

Idlan missed his monthly haircut by a couple of weeks with the events going on at home - Mum and Gramma being admitted into hospital and all. So, he definitely need a haircut as Irfan been telling him that one can hide their pencils into his hair!

So, off we went to the hairdresser, but his favourite cutter was away today - his Uncle Truno. He said OK to anyone else as long as they were male. Now. Should I be worried, or he still has plenty to learn about the ways of the world?
