Post-call Lunch

I finished my rounds extra early today as I started early after waking up. I was ready to head home well before 10 am and with the light Sunday morning traffic, arrived at Gombak 30 minutes later.

Irfan had been up and about since waking up. Refused to have his shower as usual. I missed breakfast, so I took Anita out for lunch. Just nearby, at Melawati. Some banana leaf rice. Nice .....

Late Lunch

So, managed to sort out the ward stuff and is now waiting for admissions as I was on call today. So far it had been quiet. I would have to return to see my ICU patient later though, so, in the meantime, time to hit the shower at the apartment.

A quick look outside, the road was still relatively empty. Time to go!

Lunch at Victoria Station

After my well-documented disappointment with the Jalan Ampang branch of Victoria Station, we decided to give its other branch, the one in Medan Damansara a go. Since my Dad's birthday was early in the week, we decided to have lunch there. Both my parents and in-laws were there, and of course the boys went along.

I had the chili spare ribs, and yes, it was better than the branch in Jalan Ampang. My Dad-in-law's trout was a downer though. The fish at Cosy Corner at Ampang Park was a lot better and fresher. For some reason, Idlan enjoyed the steak today. Normally he would go for chicken or fish. he finished half a steak - off my Mum's plate.

For a Sunday afternoon, the place was very quiet. I was not sure if business was going down, as the Jalan Ampang branch was almost always full for lunch. Since we were practically the only ones there, we were looked after well, and the food arrived very quickly.

In practical terms, the quality of the food at Victoria Station had been steadily declining over the last couple of years. Even the standard at the Medan Damansara branch had dropped compared to the years gone by, even though the prices had gone up. Before long, I would be looking for my steak fix somewhere else.

Ampang Park for Lunch

We had a lovely lunch today at Cozy Corner, Ampang Park. It was not really the food, I mean the steak was still not that great, but my father-in-law had a lovely plate of rainbow trout, and I was impressed at how fast he downed it. He had been talking about having trout for lunch, and had been buzzing about it ever since.

My steak on the other hand was not marinated well. Not to mention that the waiter managed to spill some gravy onto my trousers.

Plenty of shops, but no varietyPuan Anita making up her mindAs I mentioned before, the place used to serve much bette food, and the quality had definitely declined in the last 5 years. But after looking at the rainbow trout, we would definitely returned again soon.

And the boys wanted some fruitsAfter the food, we spent the next half an hour walking around Ampang Park. The place hardly changed - the foyer filled with shops selling clothes and the shops mainly selling mobile phones and clothing. But there were plenty of bargain to be had here, and I trust Puan Anita to do just that.

Lunch at Sagano

My Dad-in-Law was entertaining a business associate from South Africa this afternoon, and asked if we could join along. The last time we met the couple was when Anita was still carrying Idlan. That was more than 8 years ago now.

Dad asked where we should have the lunch. The boys actually quite liked Sagano, or alternatively Double Tree. In the end, we decided for Sagano at Renaissance Hotel, and managed to get a booking. we set off there after my ward round and the traffic this afternoon in KL was super light. We got there in under 20 minutes and we had a lovely lunch.

Sagano has became popular since we first visited it three years ago. It was a gem, as the food was very nice and the price was reasonable. It was still a notch below PJ Hilton when it came to Japanese buffet, but getting a booking at the Hilton was becoming more difficult lately. I noticed in the last couple of visits that the restaurant was getting packed most of the time. We would always call in for a booking the day before, as there was a risk of being turned away.

So, after the lunch was done - the boys going gaga on the teriyaki - it was time for a trip to KLCC for their haircut.
