Leaks. And more leaks.

Since moving in into the new apartment, I had been riddled with leaks at the bathroom. In the last six months, there had been seven reports and the last one was literally water pouring from the roof of my main bathroom.

I straight away fired an email to the management and got the supervisor to turn off the tap into the bathroom. I found the building manager as well as the engineer in my apartment the next morning trying to solve the issue.

I was pretty sure that the plumbing was rather suspect and was not able to handle the high water pressure since our apartment was on the third floor - the penthouse was on the 25th.

Work had started yesterday and would continue tomorrow. Hopefully the bathroom would be in working order by the beginning of next week. I decided to pay for the repairs rather than waiting the couple of weeks until the insurance people got their act together and survey the damage. Waste of time ...

It looked like we would be spending more time at the apartment while the repairs continue.

Frustrating stuff ...

Another Leak

Unfortunately there was another leak at the apartment. This time it was at the bathroom by the main living area, and the water had seeped through underneath the parquet flooring. It would be another job to get those sorted out.

Informed the management about the problem, and the supervisor had seen in. Next would be the maintenance manager and the flooring company people coming to sort out the insurance part. Tedious.

The repair work might start in a week or so abd would probably last a fortnight. The plumbing would also need replacing the walls repainted. Sigh ..... The problem of living in an apartment .....

Repair Work

After the leaking from a couple of months back, the damage was finally repaired and rectified. And it was not as simple a job as we imagined it was going to be. There were plenty of plumbing, digging, knocking and finally painting that needed doing. Luckily it was covered by the developer.

But since we were rarely there, the management took their time to do the repairing. And according to the supervisor, they would be finishing the job sometime next week. That should coincide with transfer of ownership of the apartment to is as well by then.

I came over to have a look at the place after lunch and to have a word with the supervisor about the repair work. According to him, the plumbing was tricky as some of the parts were custom made and the parquet also needed some expert to.look into the repair.

Hopefully, no more leakage after this. It wasn't the cost so much that we worried about, but the hassle of getting things organised and the time taken to get the repair done.
