Football Time. Finally.

Done with the admissions and now time to enjoy some football. The second half of Argentina versus Belgium to be more specific. Maybe with a bit of food as I didn't have anything at the apartment for sahur later.

The game so far had been a cagey affair. This would be the first of the night. Netherlands would be playing later this morning.

The admissions had been ok so far, and hopefully I could have a nice night sleep with a quick morning round to follow. I had to visit my brother in law who was admitted at Hospital Ampang for an abscess. Looked like he may need an operation.

I might as well get this game over and done with before returning to the apartment. ‎

Our Turn

This was 30 minutes before berbuka

Every year, we had an evening which contribute for the breaking fast, or berbuka in Malay. The pseudo-Arab among us preferred the term iftar. Last evening was our turn. We ordered the food in while the Surau prepared the venue and the drinks.

It turned out that yesterday evening being a Friday night, the Surau was packed. We only ordered food for 250 people. About 300 turned up. Nightmare.

The children killing time before berbuka by wading the small pool before heading to the surauWe managed to get more rice but still it could've been more. The same happened for the post-Tarawikh feast, or moreh. We indexed some laksa, but towards the end, there was hardly anything left.

Heading back homeBetter up the preparation when we do it again next year then ...‎

Bukit Bintang

I was on call today, but usually if I have a Saturday afternoon to myself, I could be found heading around Pavilion and Bukit Bintang for drinks or just good all round shopping. With the occasional stop at Low Yat of course for good measure.

The sale was like constantly going ...The selfie gene is definitely strong in this familyIn the last week, Bukit Bintang had been making headlines. First came the news of the sinkhole around the MRT building site near Pudu. Next came the controversial statement from the Federal Territory Minister banning soup kitchen in City Centre.

Wonder how those events could've changed my Saturday afternoon plans as far as Bukit Bintang was concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if it were to become a centre for protests. Certainly there were a few unhappy campers there. Certainly the MRT work had changed the landscape at the area somehow. It wasn't that pleasant to walk around Bukit Bintang at the moment. And then there was the traffic. Nightmare.

On that note, I would just like to post a few photos from when I took a walk around Pavilion and Low Yat last weekend just before puasa started. Might have to wait until after Ramadan before I venture around there again.

New Kit Kat

There had been a long wait since the last Kit Kat update for my Nexus 7. Almost 6 months I think. Finally earlier in the week, the latest version was pushed through. Android 4.3.3.

Any major changes? Not that I could tell. They were mainly under the hood I was sure. After all, it was a small increment, but it still kept the Nexus devices a version ahead of the rest.

Shame that there would be no new Nexus devices in the horizon and Google had decided against developing this platform. I would not hesitate to buy the next version of Nexus 7 should they come out, but there were not to be. At least as it stood at the moment.

Almost cooked!Should my Nexus 7 became outdated, I might go Sony. Some of their 7 incher or similar looked interesting indeed. Will be keeping an eye on that.

As it stood, let's see what was in store...

Bazaar Time

I made no qualms that one of the attraction of Ramadan was the food. I ended up probably eating more than usual although I was meant to be fasting. One of the main culprit was the Ramadan Bazaar. And they cropped up everywhere.

On the first day of Ramadan - I was on leave that day, I visited a bazaar at Taman Melawati, which I frequently did every year. It was a smaller affair this year even compared to the scaled down edition of last year. Disappointing choice, although the essentials were still there.

It looked ugly, but tasted good! And of course the drinksWe grabbed the usual murtabak and drinks among others. Had a quick walk around. All looked good although they often tasted not as nice. We tended to find that out the hard way.

I might not be able to enjoy the bazaar as much as I did in the previous years, due to work schedule. Maybe that's the reason the bazaar had lost its charm. ‎
