Batman!

The old adage of “the best camera is the one you have with you” strike home big time yesterday. Straight after my Sunday Morning ward round, I headed out to Pavilion to settle my bills and pay my credit card fees. Something I do on a monthly basis, kind of my down time. I usually carry my camera with me, to do a bit of street photography, or anything which took my fancy.

Alas, I didn’t have anything with me yesterday. So, I strolled into Pavilion, and the main foyer was transformed into an exhibition site for all things Batman. One of the local credit card provider sponsored the 75th Anniversary Batman exhibition there. Plenty of stuff to see, including the Batmobile and the bicycle - or whatever you called it.

The place was packed, and I wished that I had my camera with me. My boys were not into Batman - they were more into X-men for the time being. But I was sure they would appreciate it if they saw it …

Luckily, the iPhone 5S with Litely app captured some of the scenes pretty well. It could’ve been worse …

I stayed for quite some time looking at the artwork from years gone by, how the costume and even the Batman logo had evolved. I was sure the Batman movie did wonders to promote the comic, one of the more successful spin-offs.

What? No Catwoman?

Not sure how long the exhibition would go on for, but it was certainly worth checking out.

Time for Bed

I only managed about three hours of sleep last night but the beauty of it was I didn't get interrupted. I prefer that to six hours but being interrupted frequently. No problem with sorting out the rest of the day work, but now is better catch some sleep. Busy clinic tomorrow morning.

My in-laws were in Kota Bharu this weekend, leaving Anita to run the household in Gombak. Looked like a weekend in this weekend. She spent most of today glued in front of the TV, watching the funeral precession of the late Sultan Azlan Shah.

Good night all ... Long day tomorrow.

Hooray for a School Holidays

It was kinda weird to have the school holiday starting on a Wednesday. All out of a sudden the traffic to work was light and reaching the hospital early although were desirable at times, could be rather boring.

I ended up finishing my round early, and had my breakfast before leaving for my clinic at Park City. Such a blissful drive.

I wished that it was like this every morning. But being on call this morning meant that the serenity would be broken very soon ....

Best to enjoy it while it lasted ...

My Two Sen

I couldn't count how many times I had to restart my heart last night while watching the Thomas Cup Finals. So close, yet so far.

I had a couple of observations post-match.

Firstly, it was great fun and at the end of the match, one name stuck to my mind. And it wasn't Liew Daren.

Park Joo-Bong.

The great South Korean doubles specialist had been the Japanese Badminton head coach for a number of years and had revolutionised the game there, turning it into a super-power.

How Malaysia could do with somebody like him, plus the almost alien concept of political non-interference of course.

Don't get me wrong, we did well, and one thing we could take out of the loss was the fact we got some up and coming doubles players post Koo Kien Keat. The lack of singles player coming through the ranks was still a major headache. And it had been so for many years.

The second major observation I had was the unity sports brought to the nation. I wonder what ISMA's thoughts were when they saw throngs of Malays singing the name of Lee Chong Wei and Liee Daren during the match last night? How could we give so much face to these pendatangs? I meant the whole squad of it ....

Malaysians thrive in adversity and when it came to national event - the MH370 tragedy brought to mind - we glued together and rallied on as a family. Shame that it took these to unite the nation while certain parties kept using the racial card to gain political mileage. I bet they would be doing a police report against RTM for showing the match live after pleading the rights from ASTRO. Sigh!

A Long Sunday

Started the day with a long ward round, then rushing straight for lunch at China Treasures to celebrate Idlan's and Mum-in-law's birthday lunch. Luckily, we spent the Saturday evening at the apartment as I was called in during dinner last night. The journey to hospital to start the day was pretty short.

Lunch was great. It was especially good when my brother-in-law paid for it, with 20% discount with me being a Sime Darby contractor. The boys especially ate plenty.

This was followed by a short drive to amid Valley Megamall for one of Idlan's classmate's birthday party. It was Laser Quest! Oh boy! The boys went berserk in the arena. Irfan did not join his brother, giving a tummy ache as an excuse.

Next was a drive to Bangsar Village to buy some games for Idlan as part of his birthday. Of course, Irfan also got one.

Back to the apartment afterward as I had plenty of paperwork to finish, before it was time for the Thomas Cup Finals. It looked like Malaysia won't be able to make it ...

We left for Gombak just after Maghrib after the boys finished their homework. Certainly a full day, and I was sure I would be knackered later tonight .... Weekend was gone!
