Me, the Boys, Finn and Jake

It wasn't often that I managed to get home early for dinner. It was a quick afternoon rounds today, so I managed to get home and chilled with the boys when they returned home from Quran school. Irfan was absent today as he had a bit of a cough.

Since Anita was fasting I had to babysit the boys, and it was messy. Even Irfan was full of energy despite the cough and he had been jumping around the room all evening.

But then cane their favourite TV show, Finn and Jake. Everything went into standstill and stunned silence. Just as it should be....

Parkamaya

For the last few months, I have been trying to figure out what was going on on the third floor of Fahrenheit 88 in Bukit Bintang. The advert outside the building indicated that there were rows of shops there, called Parkamaya with a Japanese motif. Interesting I thought, but I never had the time to venture there.

A couple of weeks ago, I saw another advert in the local newspaper as part of KL Fashion Week, basically showing pictures of the place. That got me interested again.

Since I got some time last weekend, I headed over there to take a peek. Yes, it was basically a bazaar but it was nicely laid out and the items there were reasonably priced.

Unfortunately, I was not in the mood to carry any shopping that afternoon. I was keener to cruise around taking shots and stopping for quick meals. After all shopping were for girls..... lol!

For a Sunday afternoon, the place was subdued and there were hardly any customers. The place was tucked away on the upper floors making stumbling into the shops hard. You really had to make an effort to find the place or otherwise you'd miss it. It would've been much better if the bazaar was on the ground, or even the basement. And this was despite Fahrenheit erecting plenty of billboard showing where the place was located.

I just got a sneaky feeling that the place would not be around for that much longer. So, if you happened to be around Bukit Bintang vicinity in the coming months and you have some spare change, do give Parkamaya a visit. The place might be gone before you knew it .......

Jagung!

One of my patients was from Cameron Highlands. And every time she comes over to clinic, without fail, she would bring something from her shop up there. There was always strawberries, asparagus and my favourite, corn. Sweet corn. The kind that you could eat from the cob straight out from the stove and stuff your face in it.

So, it was her appointment again yesterday, and happily by the end of clinic, I was carrying a couple of plastic bag full of corns and fruits. Great stuff.

We didn't have time to cook them last night, but I was sure before long it would be in my tummy.

The next time I would be in Cameron Highlands, I would surely give her a visit. Hmm! I wonder where her shop was....

Haze is Back?

I woke up this morning with the dread that the haze might be bad. A quick status check on Facebook read complains from friends and relatives that the air quality deteriorated somewhat as far down as Singapore.

Everybody were bracing for the second wave. The weather was certainly gloomy first thing in the morning when I drove to work. But by the time I head out to my clinic at Desa ParkCity, the sun was out, but yes, the sky wasn't as clear as it was the last couple of days. The stench was not out in the air as it was two weeks ago, which was good.

With Ramadan coming next week, we would be hoping for cool weather, but minus the haze of course.

Wimbledon and Federer

So, it had already been the second week of Wimbledon, and I must say that it had passed by me very quickly. I just didn't have the time to catch up with the tournament, and I just realised that Murray had a great chance to win it. Only Djorkovic stood a chance of stopping him. And also Del Potro.

It was sad to see how Federer had to bow down after providing us with great entertainment over the years. It unfortunately looked like his days at the top are numbered. Wimbledon was clearly suited for his style of play, and after winning it seven times, it was hard to see him taking another Grand Slam title.

Serena Williams also had a slip today, being outgunned by a lower ranked German player. And it was a great game as well.

As it stood at the moment, I would be betting on Murray.
