Out with the One

The haze was clearing up nicely last weekend, and listening the reports that it nay return, I could see horde of photographers coming out during the weekend with their gears around their neck. With the Ramadan coming soon, I guessed most people would take this last couple of weekend to go out in the hot sun, while still able to dine outside.

I took the One last weekend as I left my camera at the Gombak house. I went for a walk around Pavilion and Bukit Bintang, and there were certainly plenty of stuff to look at. I also managed to enjoy some lunch while I was there since I was mainly alone all weekend, while Anita and the boys were still in Ipoh.

I should have some time off this coming weekend as well. I would definitely be going out as well. Last year, I took the camera out to Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman to visit the market. Best to it the first weekend of Ramadan when the crowd wouldn't be as crazy yet .....

Homework!

As usual, getting the boys to do their homework every night was a big exercise for my lungs. I had to get then to concentrate and they were easily distracted. Idlan actually finished his homework before dinner and Irfan decided to do his after watching TV.

As soon as they finished their dinner, they were running around with their guns again. Another shouting natch before they started to behave. Ten minutes later, then the homework was done. He could've easily finished it he had his meal .....

New Pair of Nerf

I got the boys a pair of new Nerf gun and all day yesterday, they were a mess out of the room. I couldn't even get any reading done, and gave up halfway through a tennis match on TV. When they finally slept, I could observe the damage done in the room ....

So, the maid had to get all the bullets back from underneath the cupboards and tables. And the process started again as soon as they got back from school.

Low Light

During my outing in search for dinner last evening, I managed to test the capability of the HTC One low light performance first hand. The camera was designed with bigger pixels on the sensor, in order to boost the low light capability, while sacrificing the pixel count. A big compromise and something of a gamble for the company, as otherwise the One seemed to be topping out the other specs.

So, I put the 4 mega pixel to task. I'd didn't disappoint, although the snaps seemed to last contrast - something that Aperture or Snapseed could fix easily in post.

I'm already smitten with its daily use especially in street photography setting. With the ultra pixels and optical image stabilisation, it certainly was capable of some stunning shots. Certainly not in the same bracket with the X100 or SLR, but for a camera phone the results were surprising.

I couldn't say if this was the best since I have yet to use the iPhone 5 in this setting - I knew, sad wasn't it. If anybody wanting to lend me their iPhone 5? Anybody? Don't be shy.....

Nine Hours

I couldn't recall the last time I had a refreshing 9 hour sleep. Maybe on the flight to Amsterdam last week, but that wasn't the same. The sleep last night must be the best that I felt for a long while. Although I still had to answer a couple of calls from hospital, which I hoped I didn't answer rudely.

Anyhow, I woke up to a dull weather this morning, starving and in search of breakfast. Would be heading for a ward round first and would be going to find punch before heading back to Gombak to wait for the Anita's return. Hopefully the weather improves because I fact a bit of a photowalk. Maybe with just the mobile.
