Sunday Lunch

Sundays are usually time that I Gert to spent with Anita and the family. But the day usually starts with a ward round first thing in the morning. The boys would usually still be asleep when I left. But last Sunday, they woke up early. They planned to join up with their buddies for a swim, and they started at ten in the morning. In the bright sunshine.

I went to join them in time for lunch after my rounds. They just left the pool then, with Anita trying to sort them out. Then it was time for lunch, with the parents of their buddies, who were members of the club - Kelab Darul Ehsan in Ampang.

The lunch at the cafe there was not that bad. We decided against the buffet - which was rather limited, and ordered from the menu instead.

The boys actually discovered that if they were to join a common network, they could turn their favourite game - Mine craft - they could enter each others world. A kind of a LAN party! The turned the cafe into a riot when they were playing. Irfan, Idlan and a couple other buddies roaming around. Noisy lot.

After lunch, the next activity for them was to feed the fish at the pond at the club. Another riot! They looked drained by the time we left close to tea time.

Denied

The boys were down since the weather was not very nice earlier this afternoon. They were not able to jump into the pool. Denied!

Instead, they decided to clean up their swimming gear. The floaters and goggles were laid out to dry, and the swimming costumes sent to the wash. Not a bad idea. They would be having lessons tomorrow at the club, so hopefully the weather would be kinder ......

A Dozen for Daddy

While I was at work today, Anita and the boys had been out sorting out the groceries. Did they get anything for me? Of course they did. Or more to the point, Irfan did. I could trust him to make sure I would be kept hydrated. He bought me a dozen carton of my coffee. Of the Dutch Lady variety of course!

Cheers!

To the Apartment

As planned, we relocated to the apartment for the weekend. But the departure was delayed since we were expecting visitors at my Mother-in-laws. They never turned up. So, it was almost time for the swimming pool when we finally got round to Bangsar. And with the thick cloud, sunburn was not a risk.

Swimming pool it was then, although I decided splashing in since I was expecting calls from the hospital.

The pool at the apartment was actually rather nice. It has three compartments, for toddlers, young children and a 1.5m 50 metre pool form the adults, long enough to swim lanes. Mainly filled with kwai lows and their children, and we couldn't helped but felt being stared upon when we arrived. They might thought that we escaped in.

The boys were in the pool for the best part of an hour, while we surfed the net on the decks - free WiFi here form the residence. Usually there was a cafe opened near the pool and gym, but it was closed today being a public holiday. That also meant that we had to go out tonight to get some food for dinner. I don't think that Anita was in the mood to cook yet after the move. We would be staying until Monday. The boys would be skipping school tomorrow, for an extended weekend.

It's Doable

The day off on Thursday for Maulidur Rasul came at just the right moment during this rather hectic week. I have finally started formally at ParkCity doing my couple on times a week clinic there. And yesterday, I tried to see if the arrangements worked out.

I was on call on Tuesday. A rather busy one and only managed about 4 hours sleep. I then started the ward round at just after 7, managing to get through all the patients by 9.30, in time to get a cup of coffee for the drive across to ParkCity.

I arrived there in time, but could've been sooner if the traffic - the expansion of Federal Highway at the Subang interchange proving to be a bottle-neck - was kinder. I still managed to get there though. There, I did some paperwork, while enjoying more coffee. There were no patients as yet at he new place. The insurance and panel patients were yet to be approved at the center, so we would have to rely on paying walk-ins for the first few months. And with the busy schedule in Subang, the quiet morning seemed a welcome distraction.

When I was just about to sit down at the clinic, the phone rang with an offer to go to lunch. Why not? A quick stop at BSC en route back to Subang seemed like a great idea. And I still managed to get to Subang in time for the afternoon clinic, although I had to start late since there were patient I needed to review in the ward as soon as I got there.

So, the conclusion was, it was doable to head to ParkCity post-call mornings. I would be on call again next Tuesday. So, the same routine would be repeated ..... Let's see if I could make it in one piece .....
