The Cemerlang House

Back in 2001, when we were still in the UK, we bought a house near the in-laws at Taman Cemerlang. The plan was to set up my family there when we returned, as the house would be located right in-between both our parents. But things did not go according to plan. We returned to Malaysia to spend time with my father-in-law who was awaiting a cardiac bypass. He wanted to wait until we returned home before he went under the knife.

Then Anita fell pregnant. My dad-in-law waited for Idlan to be born. By the time, we were based at his place in Taman Setia, and had been ever since. On the odd weekend, we would stay at the Cemerlang house, but over the years, with me changing my job, those occasions were getting few and far between.

Even though we hardly stayed there, we and the boys had strong affinity to the house as they enjoyed spending time there. With the garden and all. Idlan actually cried when a buyer came over during the weekend. He wanted to still keep the house, but we thought that bit would be impossible to maintain so many properties. We thought about renting it out, but that would be more of a problem in the long run. We couldn't afford to spend much on the house, and it would be better for us to sell.

I Need Sleep

I was already fast asleep in the car on the way back from dinner last night. I was that tired, having had to return to the hospital on Thursday after work. One of the patient became ill plus a new admission. I ended up sorting things out well past midnight. Rather than return to Gombak, I spent the evening at the apartment instead.

Hardly had much sleep, followed by a busy day at work, I was zoned out by the time I reached home last night.

Luckily Anita had planned dinner and got the driver to take us around as I was too tired to drive then. The next thing I remembered was waking up on the couch at 2 in the morning.

I then staggered bed into bed, and woke up refreshed in time to drive to work this morning. So, clinic was sorted out, and it was time now for lunch. A quick detour to Bangsar, then the apartment before joining the boys and Anita later during their swimming class. That was what Saturday going to be like. I hope.

A Long Day

Post-call and it was a hectic one. A dozen admission, and some of them needed proper sorting out. I therefore decided to start the day early. And I manager to get the rounds sorted out, after which I went over to see a referral at Ara Damansara.

This was followed by a drive to my other clinic at Desa ParkCity. No patients there, so I managed a breather while answering my emails. This took me to lunch, which involved another drive. Bangsar Shopping Center it was, before getting back to Subang for my afternoon clinic.

A real whirlwind of a day, and tonight, I had been preparing for a talk in would be giving at Hospital Ampang tomorrow. At least it would be on a subject I was relatively familiar with. So, time to hit the sack then, and wake up very early to finish off the slides. So, Good Night all!

Season Three

The extended weekends at the apartment allowed Anita and I to indulge on the things we liked to do together - watching movies. On one of the trips to Plaza Damas, we managed to pick up the third season of Downton Abbey, and devices a marathon for the two of us. We went through four episodes last night, and the rest - another four this afternoon after my ward rounds.

Due to that, we had to delay our trip back to Gombak, and went for a late lunch cum tea as well on the way home.

The third season was less gloomy than the war-tinged second season. The was no lack of drama of course. There was enough twists and turn to get the plot moving, new characters being introduced as well as a few departing. The ending was a good one though, providing some closure to a few of the questions left hanging. Shame that Lady Mary's wedding to Matthew was not shown in great splendour.

The narrative was sharp, and the comments from the Dowager Countess was as cutting as ever. Great screenplay with great direction and acting. Shirley MacLaine character only showed up in a couple of episodes though, leaving us wanting for more.

Next stop, the Christmas Special 2012. Not available yet for download on the UK iTunes Store as yet.

Extended Weekend

I suspect most of Idlan's swimming buddies were taking time off this weekend with the extended break, leaving both Idlan and Irfan to have personal time with their swimming coach. Idlan had certainly improved a lot. Now he was able to float properly. I was sure within the coming months, he would be much better than I would.

I was worried that it would be raining. Instead, the clods parted bathing us with glorious sunshine, prompting Anita to frantically apply sunscreen on her two boys. She was worried that they would develop a tan maybe! Wait until they taken up golfing ......

So, what would I do with the extra day off on Monday? Very likely I would be doing some blogging. I have a couple of lectures to prepare in the coming weeks. One was already done. The other would need at least 6 hours of effort. That would have to wait until tomorrow. Today, I would be taking my kids to Plaza Damas next. Catch an early dinner and spend the evening at the apartment.
